NAIL ART: Lavender Scribble Abstract Nails

After going so hard on themes the past few months, I'm definitely finding myself drawn to more abstract nail designs at the moment, so I suspect that's a lot of what you'll be seeing here on the blog for the next few weeks. The stamping plate I used for this one has actually been sitting in my collection for months now and I just hadn't gotten a chance to use it, so I was super excited to finally reach for it and put something together with it. I kept it pretty simple stamping-wise, though I will say that the overall design did end up being quite busy. Still, I love how it turned out.

For my base for this mani, I finally reached for a polish that has been in my collection for months now - which I feel might be a bit of a theme with this mani - that I picked up last year from PPU. Painted Polish 90s Are Calling is a medium purple crelly packed with pink to gold to green color shifting flecks and blue azure metallic flakes and it's just a super interesting polish. I love when Painted Polish does these crellies with really unique flakes in them, because I feel like they really are truly unique and probably a little bit polarizing.

For this mani, I started with two coats of 90s Are Calling to all of my nails for my base.

For the stamping, I knew going in that I wanted to use this long, skinny dotted image, so I sort of built from there. I wanted to use three colors, so I started with a full cover fine lined texture image to all of my nails in dark purple to sort of build off of. Next, I went in with the skinny sort of zig zag scribble image in a very light purple, alternating direction and placement and then did the same with the skinny dotted image on the opposite side of the nail in black. I decided at this point that I wanted to add a little bit more black, so I used a small dotted image and applied at a corner of each nail, right on top of the light purple stamping.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and finished with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

It's funny because after the holidays I was really feeling quite uninspired when it comes to nail art, but now I have this sort of renewed excitement to play around with more of these sort of abstract layered designs. I've seen some really pretty work from other people that has inspired me and I just love how this one turned out so I'm excited to play around some more and see what comes out!

Thanks for reading!
