If you read this blog, you'll likely be unsurprised to know that this mani came about less because of inspiration and more because of what I had out on my desk when I sat down to do my nails. Honestly, this happens to me more often than one might think, but it has led to some of my all time favorite nail art designs. Admittedly, this was also somewhat inspired by the product photo for the stamping plate that I used, but mostly it was just based on what my eyes could see in the moment as I was deciding what to put on my nails.

Some of my favorite polishes in my collection are ones that I find really difficult to use as a base for nail art, but I still consistently try. This time, though, Polished For Days' Ruska, a brown toned mauve crelly absolutely crammed full of iridescent shifty flakes, was out on my desk after being applied to my other hand and it was absolutely what sparked inspiration. I love, love, love this polish because it has this dusky, almost sort of cloudy vibe, that I think is just absolutely stunning. It can, however, be really difficult to pair with nail art because there's so much going on in it. That said, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.
For this mani, I applied two coats of Ruska to all of my nails and let them dry down completely.
In the product images for the KADS Nature 056 Stamping Plate, they layered these two leaves images together over the entire nail and I really loved the effect. For this mani, I decided to go lighter, rather than darker, to get the images to show up over the base, so I grabbed for a rose gold and a pale nude pink stamping polishes. I also decided that I wanted to concentrate the stamping towards the tip half of my nail because it just felt a little bit more playful for me. I started by applying the solid leaves image to all of my nails in the rose gold stamping polish and then went in with the outlined leaves image in the nude pink. I turned the images in different directions on each nail so that none of them looked the same when I was finished, which I feel is a really good trick for giving your nails more visual interest.
Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it all in with a water based top coat and then finished with a layer of matte top coat to take down the shine and ultimately amp up the dimension a little bit. And voila!

I really love how this design came out. This base polish is just... Honestly, I highly, highly recommend grabbing this while it's still available. I personally purchased it from Harlow & Co (a favorite Canadian stockist for a lot of great indie brands) but it's also still available directly from Polished For Days as well! I'm also really impressed so far with the KADS stamping plates. I think they have some really beautifully designed plates and I think this one performed really well.
