NAIL ART: Cozy Pink & Charcoal Plaid Nails

From back when I first started doing nail art, which seems like it should be more recent than it actually was because time has no meaning anymore, one of my favorite types of nail designs has been plaid nails and I really just don't do them enough anymore. Of course, as cozy season ramps up, there's no denying the need to put some plaid on my nails. For this mani, I kept it simple (and sort of cozy flannel PJ pants vibes) with a speckled mauvey pink base and some charcoal grey stamping. It's simple, but I really love it and I feel like there are unlimited color pairings you could do with this simple mani that would both look amazing and also change up the vibe.

The speckled polishes from Cirque Colors are amazing, amazing nail art bases and, though I've only tried two of them thus far, I'm absolutely in love with the formula. It's a little bit thin, but it applies really smoothly and gives coverage in 2-3 coats depending on how you polish. I very sincerely want to collect them all because I always know that they're going to add texture and interest to the base of my mani, but it's subtle enough that it never takes over and messes with the design vibe. For this mani, I chose Shale from cirque  because the muted tone of pink and the grey speckles felt both very cozy to me as well as a bit textile-ish to add to the vibe I was going for with the plaid. I applied two coats to all of my nails for my base.

I really wanted to have a cohesive vibe with the speckles in the base polish and even though they're black, in this crelly base they definitely have more of a charcoal sort of vibe. I don't currently have a charcoal stamping polish in my collection because I only had a small bottle of the one I owned from Clear Jelly Stamper and it has unfortunately run dry at this point. What I did have, though, is a polish from the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri range in this shade and I've had really good luck stamping with those polishes so I went with it and it worked out. I applied the same image from the Uberchic Beauty Pretty In Plaid 2 plate to all of my nails.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a water based top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat and voila!

I mean, how can you go wrong with a super simple, super cozy plaid nail art design? I feel like you just really can't. If you're looking for a great plaid stamping plate, I would definitely recommend checking out Uberchic Beauty. They have three different options in their Pretty In Plaid range now and I love my Pretty In Plaid 2, though I actually really really want to get my hands on Pretty In Plaid 1 because it seems like it would be the most versatile. Either way, definitely recommend!
