2015 BEAUTY FAVORITES: Cheek Products

by - January 07, 2016

2015 was the year of a cheek product obsession for me. My collection blush, bronzer, and highlight got a little bit out of control and I had to give away a bunch of my blushes to make room for all of the new things that were coming into my life. I finally found a couple of bronzers that work on my skintone and don't look muddy and also figured out how to wear highlighter in a way that doesn't exaggerate the uneven skin texture that I have on my cheeks. Overall, it was a great year for cheek products for me and I could do one massive collection post to rave about all of the things that I love, but when I narrowed it down to 5 they all seemed like a really good fit. Again, I feel a little bit bad about including a couple of limited edition products in here, but it had to be about what I love, right?

Keep reading to take a look at my favorite cheek products of 2015!

1. Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Pansy Pop & Heather Pop
I mentioned this blush formula in my Knee Jerk Favorites post, so obviously it was going to get mentioned here as well. This is by far my favorite blush formula of 2015 - and a new addition to my collection this year as well. I love everything about this blush from the packaging (which is SO clean and chic) to the formula and shade selection. I only have 2 of these in my collection so far, but I have every intention of picking up a few more shades for the future! If you haven't tried this out yet, I highly recommend. Pansy Pop is a sheer orchid tone that pulls a little bit purple, going to be reaching for it again constantly in the spring. Heather Pop is a beautiful neutral rosy mauve shade that is a little more pigmented than Pansy Pop and perfect with a million looks at any time of year!

2. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes (Palette shown)
So, of course, this palette is no longer available, but you can pick up the individual blushes. Now, these are definitely the most expensive blushes that I have in my collection, but they're also some of the most beautiful. They give the most beautiful glow to your cheeks without accentuating uneven texture and they just make you look healthy and lovely. I'm not sure I plan on getting any more of these, just because these three shades are pretty much perfect for me and all I need in my collection, but I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a really fantastic luxury blush! My favorite shade of the three is Mood Exposure, because it's incredibly neutral and just gives a little something to my cheeks without being too much.

3. The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 01 Light Matte
I think all of my fellow fair girls will completely understand me when I say that finding a bronzer that you can wear in the winter is pretty much impossible. For me, this is really the only one that I can use without looking like a muddy mess, and it gives a really beautiful, healthy look to the skin. I also do like this in the summer, if only because I tend to SPF to the moon and still avoid the sun, but it is also available in deeper shades as well. This is a great formula that blends really nicely on the skin and doesn't look overwhelming. It's just nice, what more can I say?

4. Hard Candy Limited Edition Heart Shaped Highlighter Duo in Lit Up
So. Yeah. Another limited edition product, but I used this pretty much every day all summer, so it had to get a mention. This is the closest to a drugstore dupe that I've found of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders and I really, really loved it this year. I wish that Hard Candy would make these permanent (or add baked highlighters of this quality to their permanent line) because it just really gave a beautiful, natural looking glow to the skin without a bunch of shimmer to make me look crazy. For me, when it comes to highlights, I tend to prefer this type of domed, baked product above all things.

5. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
Annnnnnd the piece de resistance! This baby is expensive... but it is also absolutely beautiful, I must say. I've found ways to use all three shades that work for my skintone, which is pretty amazing I must say, and I find myself reaching for this a lot. I also used this on my friend when I did her makeup for her wedding and loaded it on so that she had the most ethereal and stunning glow I've ever seen on a bride. I love to use the Dim Light shade as a subtle contour, and on my fair skin it looks amazing. Incandescent Light works perfectly as a highlight for me all year long. And Radiant Light is perfect for really amping up the glow in the summertime or topping a blush for a little bit more impact. Seriously, to me these are worth every bit of hype that they get and probably my favorite luxury product that I own.

So there you have it, these are the cream of the crop of my very extensive cheek product collection. In the future, I may actually do a collection post about these products, including reviews of everything that I have in my collection, but that will be a pretty epic post and I think it'll have to wait until a little later in the year!

Thanks for reading and come back tomorrow for yet another 2015 Favorites round up!
