I have to admit that when I first looked at the products I'm going to review today I was a little bit underwhelmed and wasn't quite sure how they were going to work out. The drugstore can be a little bit hit and miss when it comes to palettes and I was a little bit afraid that these were going to be the former, even though I was hoping for the latter. The Catrice x Eman Makeup Palettes*, featuring eyeshadow, highlighter and blush, ended up being sleeper hits for me and I'm SUPER excited for today's review.

Hey guys! I'm a huge fan of a blush palette and I suspect I always will be. Though I wouldn't say I'm a huge traveler by any means, a blush palette is basically a must for travel for me, but I actually really prefer reaching for a palette when I'm at home as well. Having multiple options in my hand makes choosing a blush shade to go with my eyes and lips for that day a lot easier and I can really see the differences in tone when I have side by side comparisons. So, of course, I was really excited to try out the new Avon Iconic Blooming Blush Palette*.

Hey guys! Sorry for the impromptu hiatus here on the blog. I got pretty sick and spent the better part of a week asleep, so the blog had to take a back seat, but I'm back! Since fall is by far my favorite makeup season - which I suspect is true for a lot of people - I sat down recently and pulled out some of my absolute favorites to not only feature here on the blog, but also to put into my everyday makeup drawers so I can reach for them easily myself. I feel like the season change offers not only the inevitably exciting new makeup releases but also the opportunity to shop your own stash and pull out products that you might have forgotten in the back of a drawer somewhere.

Every year during the holidays tarte releases a blush palette and I've always been tempted but I never pulled the trigger until this year. The Sephora Birthday Gift this year included an absolutely gorgeous tarte blush and I pretty much used nothing else on my cheeks for the last four months of 2017, so it was easy for me to decide to try out the TARTE Blush Bazaar Amazonian Clay Blush Palette when I ended up withe some gift cards I was itching to spend.

Recently, Maybelline released some new products in their FIT Me range at about the same time as I needed to re-up on some of my much loved products from the range. Rather than just reviewing the new products, I wanted to put a spotlight on the whole range because, in my opinion, it's one of the best overall in the drugstore. It doesn't hurt that everything in this range is also under $10. With a lot of drugstore products, particularly here in Canada, creeping up over $10 per item, I'm always on the hunt for truly good budget friendly options and I really feel like Maybelline has done it with their FIT Me range.

I absolutely love a blush palette, I must admit. For someone like me - aka, not a makeup artist - they may seem to be a little bit overkill but I love being able to reach into my blush drawer, grab a palette with a good variety of shades and a good formula, and choose exactly what I need without fuss. Also, I think every makeup junkie needs a blush palette for travel. Anyway, this is why I've been eyeing up the Maybelline Masterblush Colour & Highlight Palette* ever since it was released. I've actually had it in my head several times, but hadn't gotten around to picking it up and recently it was sent to me to try out from Chickadvisor. I've been giving this a serious test, so keep reading for my thoughts!

When I was thinking about my favorites this month, I realized that I have a tendency to get really obsessed with types of products rather than specific products themselves, so I decided to do my favorites a little bit different this month. Basically, I wanted to pick my favorite products in the categories that I've been most gravitating to this month. This year, more than any other I can remember, I'm really aware of how my makeup routine is changing with the seasons. I've always known that I naturally tend to lighten everything up as the weather gets warmer, but I've really been aware of the differences this year. You guys know I'm a HUGE fan of e.l.f. products. Not everything is an off the charts winner, but I really do feel like I've found more gems than duds in the things that I've tried, and at the low prices of their products I really feel like it's worth pretty much trying out anything that looks appealing - at least for me, from a makeup junkie blogger perspective. Anyway, I'd given the e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in Fiji the eye more than a few times, but ultimately hadn't ever picked it up because I felt like it was maybe more suited for a deeper skintone than my own pasty pale. Recently, though, I saw it at my local Rexall and decided that I just had to try it for myself.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... If essence puts out a blush, it's coming home with me. I swear, the fact that I didn't get my hands on the Under My Umbrella Trend Edition blush that came out in 2016 is still haunting me a little bit. However, I've got a bit of a salve for that, because when I went into my local Shoppers Drug Mart last week to check out what was new on their shelves, I found that essence put out two new blushes in a new formula! I hadn't heard any buzz about these, they're not listed on the essence website, and I just about went crazy grabbing both of the available shades and basically running to the check out because they needed to be mine. Hyperbole, but you get me.

Anyway, I've used both of these a few times now and I'm more than ready to give you my thoughts.

I know it's been a minute since I've posted over here, but I took a little bit of time away from blogging to really enjoy the holidays with friends and family... and then I basically got hit by a big truck of illness and have spent the last few days in bed pretty much unable to function. HAPPY NEW YEAR! 

Anyway, I had a few different posts planned to start off 2017, but I decided to go a slightly lazy route since I'm still recovering and come in with a haul for you guys! And, trust me, this haul is LONG time coming. I made this order on Cyber Monday (Nov. 28) and received it yesterday (Jan. 3). Yup. It took 3 weeks for them to process my order. At 24 days after I ordered, they sent me a message telling me that a limited edition product I ordered had gone out of stock. And finally after 5 weeks of waiting, my order arrived. I still love essence products, guys, but I have to be honest and tell you I'm never ordering from their website again. Not only is their Canadian shipping absolutely offensive, but the delivery time for my order was unacceptable. 

However, like I said, I still love their products and am pretty happy with almost everything that I picked up, so keep reading to see the haul!

Hey guys! Welcome back for the second installment of my 2016 favorites! If you read this blog regularly, you'll know that I'm a bit of a junkie for blush. In fact, my blush drawer is getting so full at this point that I think I'm going to have to either declutter (which is hard, okay?) or figure out a new plan for makeup storage (which I think is going to be coming in 2017!) Of course, I had to give cheek products their own post, especially since this year is so rife with brand new favorites. There are a couple of old favorites in the mix, but for the most part we're going to be talking about things that were new to me in 2016!

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to review some really impressive skin care from Le Soins De Jacynthe, a Canadian skin care brand started by Jacynthe René. Well, the brand is back with a brand new name - Maison Jacynthe - and a new line of makeup that includes a full line of products for face, eyes, lips and cheeks! I had the opportunity to choose three products from the new line to review for you guys and, after enjoying the skin care products as much as I did, I was relaly excited to give them a test drive and feature them on the blog for you guys!

I don't get out to London Drugs very often because the only location in Winnipeg isn't really convenient for me most of the time. However, I do make a point of it every now and then because their beauty department is pretty good - particularly the NYX section. On my last visit, I discovered that the NYX section had actually doubled in size and they had a lot of things on display that I previously couldn't find locally, so I went only a little bit mad with power. I feel like for a long time there was a long wait between when products were released in the US from NYX and when we were actually able to get them in Canada, but I feel like that's changing. Which. Is. Awesome.

One product that I wanted ever since they were released was the NYX Ombre Blush, so I snapped up the most "me" shade of the bunch as soon as I tried them, so I could see how the formula works for me. Keep reading to find out what I think of the shade Mauve Me!

I swear, I was planning on decluttering some of my face palettes... but I just couldn't do it. I'm a sucker for palettes with a lot of options. Even though I'm not a huge traveler, they're great for taking on the go and I just love being able to reach for one thing and having a lot of options. And my options are from the most affordable dollar store makeup to the most gorgeous, luxurious high end, so there's a lot to work with here for every budget. And like I proved in my Makeup Collection & Declutter: Blushes post, I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to blushes and... okay, I feel a little bit embarrassed about it now that my collection is on the internet - but I feel NO SHAME.

So. Let's talk Cream Blush. Of all the types of face products I have in my collection, this is probably the smallest collection because I just don't reach for cream blush all that often. That being said, I think there are some great cream blush options and for people with dry to very dry skin cream blush can be a bit of a skin savior because it doesn't make your skin look dry and parched. In the winter... that's me! I definitely had some cream blushes in my collection that needed to go though, so it was definitely time for a clean out!

So there are a lot of products that I've had photograped for ages and been meaning to review, but for whatever reason haven't gotten around to. Honestly, sometimes the blogger mind gets a little overwhelmed and things that get put off in favor of writing other posts end up waaaaay back on the backburner. Anyway, I'm trying to get some of these reviews out for you guys, even though the products aren't new anymore. To me, it's worth it to have these posts in my blog in case people are ever wondering about them in the future. I won't do this with Limited Edition products - because that's silly - but instead will just review permanent products that might not be new, but are definitely still available.

One of the products that I've been meaning to review is the Makeup Revolution The Matte Blush in the shade Dare. You guys probably already know that I love Makeup Revolution's powder products and I'm a huge blush junkie, so of course this was going to end up in my arsenal!

Recently, I was lucky enough to win some of the new products from Wet N Wild and I pretty much lost my mind. As affordable brands go, Wet N Wild is one of my absolute favorites because I always feel like they can be counted on to bring gorgeous pigmentation and texture to their powder products at an amazing price. For me, it can actually be a little bit hard to get my hands on Wet N Wild products (which will make the brand pretty high on my shopping list when I head to the States this summer for holiday, since it's so accessible there) so I was really excited to get to try all of these out and I'm definitely excited to give you guys my thoughts on them!

When the Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16-Hour Blush Wardrobe was announced, I pretty much A) lost my mind, and B) decided that it was going to be coming home with me after Christmas, sort of like the same reaction I had when I saw my dog at the shelter. Yes, I just compared adopting my beloved dog to buying a blush palette, because I am clearly somewhat nuts, but trust me - there was excitement and longing all up in here and the comparison makes sense in my head. If you don't already know, I'm a MASSIVE fan of blush and my collection is steadily growing to the point where I'm running out of room for it! I love blush palettes because it's easy to reach for consistently and get something for every look, but also because they tend to be a really good deal in much the same way that limited edition sets and palettes are. Anyway, I grabbed this in my Boxing Week Sephora Haul I'm ready to give it a full review!

2015 was the year of a cheek product obsession for me. My collection blush, bronzer, and highlight got a little bit out of control and I had to give away a bunch of my blushes to make room for all of the new things that were coming into my life. I finally found a couple of bronzers that work on my skintone and don't look muddy and also figured out how to wear highlighter in a way that doesn't exaggerate the uneven skin texture that I have on my cheeks. Overall, it was a great year for cheek products for me and I could do one massive collection post to rave about all of the things that I love, but when I narrowed it down to 5 they all seemed like a really good fit. Again, I feel a little bit bad about including a couple of limited edition products in here, but it had to be about what I love, right?
