EMPTIES: December 2015

by - January 01, 2016

Is it weird that I feel vaguely sad about the fact that this is my last empties post of 2015 and excited that it's my first post of 2015? I guess I'm kind of weirdly sentimental like that. Anyway, because December is such a weird month, I didn't use up a ton of things, but I did definitely get through some good ones that are actually favorites of mine. That tends to be the things I actually go through, so I suppose it's not that surprising.

Anyway, if you're interested in seeing what I used up in December, along with mini reviews of each of the products, keep reading!

1. VICHY Purete Thermale 3 in 1 Cleanser
I got this little sample from Shoppers Drug Mart during their Beauty Gala and I really enjoyed using it. I feel like this is a great cleanser for those of us with dry skin during the wintertime, because it leaves your skin feeling really hydrated rather than stripping it. I will likely purchase this in full size at some point in the future, but I'm working on another cleanser right now so it won't be immediately.

2. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil
I reviewed this product earlier this year and have been consistently using it ever since then and I really enjoy it. I would have preferred that it had the chocolate chip cookie flavor of my favorite Palmer's body lotion, but I got used to the rosehip scent in the end. I like the texture of this and I feel like it does a really good job of breaking up my makeup as the first step in my double cleanse routine. I will likely repurchase this again in the future.

3. The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter
I really enjoy everything I've tried from The Body Shop's Camomile line and this was no exception. This is a smooth balm that does a fantastic job of taking off your makeup. I'm not sure I'll repurchase this, though, because I prefer to use a cleansing oil with a pump because it's just a little less messy. Still, it's a good product at a great price, so I would give it my stamp of approval.

4. Oz Naturals Vitamin C Serum
Over the course of 2015, I used several Oz Natural products, but this one was absolutely my favorite. You can see my full review here. I think my skin does very well using a Vitamin C serum and this one was really good. I actually found that the longer I used it, the more I liked it, and I was pretty sad to see this used up. I'm working my way through some other serums at the moment, but this is one that I would definitely consider repurchasing.

5. Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Night Serum
This product came in a Glossybox earlier this year and I was looking forward to trying it out, and I ended up really enjoying it. I think it did a good job of lightening any pigmentation on my face, but it also just did a really good job of making my skin look better and brighter over all. I would probably consider repurchasing this, though the price tag is pretty steep.

6. THEFACESHOP Chia Seed Soothing Mist Toner
This might be my favorite mist ever, I have to say. Whenever anyone asks for a recommendation for products to try from THEFACESHOP, this and the sheet masks are my picks. I reviewed this earlier this year and continued to use it every day until I had sucked every last drop from the bottle. This is a definite, absolutely, no question repurchase!

7. L'Oreal Professional Mythic Oil Hair Mask
This baby is spendy, so I tend to wait until the rare times that it's on sale (or on 20x the points at SDM), but it's a long time favorite of mine and my hair absolutely loves it. It smells incredible and my hair hasn't been as silky and shiny as this makes it since I was a little kid. For me, this is worth the money, and I have no doubt that I'll buy it again.

8. L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara
L'Oreal discontinued this mascara this year, but if you're a long time... or even fairly short time reader of this blog, you know that it's my ride or die favorite mascara so I picked up back ups. You'll see this popping up in empties posts intermittently as I work through all of my backups, because I have several. If this was still available, I'd basically make everyone I know pick it up to try. It's that fantastic.

9. LIFE Brand Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask
Meh, this is fine. I don't think I'll go out of my way to repurchase it, but I wasn't disappointed that I had it. This is just middle of the road.

10. THEFACESHOP Real Natural Rice Sheet Mask (x2)
This is one of my absolute favorite sheet masks for when my skin is freaking out, like when I'm having hormonal breakouts and such. It does a fantastic job of soothing my skin, cleansing my pores, and tightening everything up. This is probably a forever repurchase.

11. THEFACESHOP  Real Nature Green Tea Face Mask
This is another mask that's just okay for me. It doesn't really do a lot, but it was nice to have on and didn't do anything bad. I don't know that I'll get this one again. Maybe.

12. E.G.T. Essence Gel Eyefill Patch
I've taken to using these on mornings when I'm feeling run down and my eyes are looking puffy and tired. It does a decent job of waking me up. I don't know if I'd repurchase, but I do like them while I'm using them.

13. THEFACESHOP Rudolph Character Mask
HOW CUTE IS THIS? I got this thrown into my Black Friday purchase and I saved it for Christmas Eve to put on after I got home from all of the family parties. It was super adorable and I would get another one next year just because it`s fun and soothing on the skin.

14. THEFACESHOP Collagen Essential Mask Sheet
To be perfectly honest, I don't actually remember using this, so I really have no idea how it performed for me. I think I'll likely pick up another one and try to make a few notes when I use it.

15. Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask
So... This mask was really hyped up and I was excited to use it... but I didn't really get what the hype was about. It felt nice and my skin felt really soft after using it, but otherwise I was a little bit underwhelmed. I think I'm going to try the TCFS Egg Mousse Pack sometime soon, because I suspect I'll have better results with that. And for the price, that makes a lot more sense.

Didn't even have as many sheet masks as I usually have this month - so you can tell my schedule and routine has been a bit of a disaster. I'm sure that as I get re-established into my routine again, you'll see these posts getting a little.. fuller.

Thanks for reading & Happy New Year!
