REVIEW: Karen Dermo Cosmetic Phytoplankton Moisturizing Lotion

by - April 26, 2017

More and more, I've been realizing how much better I feel when I'm hydrated head to toe. I've always been pretty good about keeping my face hydrated, but when it came to my body I would usually wait until I got uncomfortably dry before doing anything. I've definitely learned my lesson on that point and have become a lot more consistent in taking care of the skin on my body as well as my face. Recently, I've been trying out the Karen Dermo Cosmetic Phytoplankton Moisturizing Lotion*, which can be used for face, hands, and body.

Keep reading for my review!

About:
A face, hand and body lotion, Karen Dermo Cosmetic Moisturizing Lotion has shown in clinical trials to be highly effective in enhancing skin elasticity and regeneration, strengthening skin hydration, eliminating itchiness and protecting against skin dryness, photoaging, wrinkles and sagging. With wound-healing properties, the lotion serves as an anti-inflammatory agent, stimulates skin cell growth and treats such skin issues as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.

Interesting, right? The reason that I was interested in trying this is really that I was curious about Phytoplankton as an ingredient in skin care, as I always tend to be curious about different ingredients in skin care products. I also liked that this is a Canadian company that focuses on the science and evidence behind their products - both of those things are always really exciting to me, so to find them together made this a must try.

I was surprised by the texture of this lotion. It's quite light and doesn't have that really thick creaminess to it, but as you massage it into the skin it feels really rich and hydrating. Because it doesn't have that heavy texture, it sinks into the skin quickly and doesn't leave any residue or greasiness behind, but I find that it really maintains that hydrated feel long after you've applied it. This lotion has almost no scent, and what's there is definitely not a perfume type scent. I'd say that this just very lightly smells like the ingredients.

In testing this product out, I've used it in several different ways. This lotion is for use on face, hands, and body, which was a little bit surprising to me, but I decided to give it a good test on all of them. Because I don't personally suffer from any of the skin conditions, such as rosacea and psoriasis, that this product claims to improve, I can't speak to those things, but I definitely have really stubborn dry patches that I really wanted to test this out on.

I started out trying it on my face and I have to admit that, while it was an alright day cream, it wasn't exactly what I look for in something I'm going to use on my face. However, when I moved on to hands and body, that's where this product really shined for me. As an all over lotion, this gives me a good punch of hydration without feeling heavy or taking forever to sink in. However, what impressed me most about this lotion is how it effected my upper arms, where I tend to struggle with keritosis pilaris - those annoying, uncute little bumps that so many of us get. Continued use of this really improved the appearance and feel of that area for me!

Overall, the Karen Dermo Cosmetic Phytoplankton Moisturizing Lotion* has been a winner for me as a body lotion. I like the level of hydration that it gives me all over and the way that it has really improved those stubborn target areas of my skin. If you're struggling with any of the skin conditions listed here or if you're just in the market for a really nice body lotion, I definitely think this is worth checking out!
