REVIEW: Naked Skin Care & Apothecary Radiance Mask - Pink Clay + Mango

by - April 17, 2017

With Earth Day coming up on the 22nd, I decided to devote an entire week to some great products from natural, organic, and environmentally friendly brands! Check back every day this week for some great products from all categories of beauty products!

If there's one thing I had been dying to try recently, it's been a pink clay mask. I've used a LOT of clay masks in my time, but until recently I hadn't pulled the trigger and gotten my hands on one. Finally, I decided to pick up the Naked Skincare & Apothecary Pink Clay + Mango Radiance Mask, and I'm so, so very happy I did. If you're not familiar with Naked Skincare Apothecary, they're an amazing natural indie brand out of Winnipeg and they have some seriously gorgeous products in their line up. I was lucky enough to have gotten to test some of their products before they launched and I've been seriously remiss in not giving them more love here on the blog!

About:
A radiating and youthful appearance with ultimate hydration and skin firmness. Perfect for balancing the most stressed and sensitive of skins. Blended with mango extract which is high in Vitamin A, C and Beta Carotine. This clay mask will hydrate, refine delicate lines, moisturize and improve the overall texture of the skin.

If you're unfamiliar with this type of mask, basically it comes packaged as a powder and you mix it with water yourself to make a paste and then apply it to the skin. One thing that's cool about them is that you can also try mixing it with honey, aloe vera, rose water or yogurt for a different consistency and perhaps different results. Aside from water, I've only tried mixing it with yogurt myself and I found that while I liked it, it definitely took longer to dry and I didn't see enough of a difference in the results that I would choose that over water. I do plan on trying some of the other options though, if only out of curiosity.

As you can see from the picture, this mask starts to dry really quickly when mixed with water, so you really don't need to have a ton of time to be able to apply this mask. I personally like to mix it in a small bowl using a flat paddle brush and then applying it with the same brush to get a smooth coverage and control where it is applied. When rinsing, I generally try to get the bulk of the product off with water and my hands before going in with a dark coloured face cloth to remove the rest. This will very likely stain your white wash cloths, so I would definitely go in with a darker one or something you're not too concerned about staining.

I've used this both morning and night and I have to say that I actually prefer it as a morning step to prep my skin because it helps to give me a really beautiful canvas for makeup. Also, because it dries so quickly, I find that I can throw this on while I brew a cup of coffee and I don't have a lot of waiting time before I can rinse it off and get started on my morning routine. This is a really gentle mask and I found that, rather than feeling dry and stripped, my skin feels smooth and hydrated once rinsed. I like to use this immediately after my morning cleanse and then follow with serum, moisturizer, and SPF before I apply my makeup.

Honestly, I think that if you've been in the market for a pink clay mask like I was, the Naked Skin Care & Apothecary Radiance Mask is a great option to check out. At $22 CAD, this is definitely an affordable option, the 2oz jar will last a good long time, and the results are really great!

Naked Skin Care & Apothecary products are available online at their website and I definitely think this is an indie brand worth paying attention to!
