REVIEW: Avalon Organics Hair & Body Care Products

by - June 28, 2017

Recently I got the chance to try out some hair, bath and body products from Avalon Organics. Admittedly, until this point I don't think I'd tried anything out from the brand, though I had seen them in stores many times, so I was excited to give them a go. I really love getting the chance to try out a selection of products from a brand so I can really get a feel for what they have going on in a way that testing out just one or two could never give me.

So, if you're interested in my thoughts on the products, keep reading!

If you're unfamiliar with the brand, Avalon Organics is an organic, plant based line of skin, hair and body care products. Their focus as a brand is really focused on safe, healthy products that are environmentally friendly, cruelty free, and vegan (except for their lip balms, which do contain beeswax). If you're interested in more about the brand, I highly recommend checking out their website

Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo*
I really do like to use a clarifying shampoo a couple of times a month to really get rid of any buildup in my hair, and I think that this one works really well for that. After using this, my hair feels really, really clean and I haven't really struggled with the intense drying effects that I often find with clarifying products. That being said, I wouldn't recommend using this on colour treated hair, because I found that it really stripped the colour from my roots and those annoying greys that I work so hard to cover popped out for a party. Overall, I think this is good and I will continue to use it occasionally when my hair needs a good deep clean.

Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Conditioner*
I want to just take a moment and have a little swoon fit about the lemon scent of these products. It's not overwhelming, but it's very definitely present and just evokes that feeling in me of brightness and clean. I love it! Now, for how it works. I think this conditioner is good, but not quite right for my hair. I think for someone with oily hair or who doesn't need really intense hydration, this would be a great product that would get the job done splendidly. For me, while it did leave my hair feeling really soft and manageable, I like to have a little bit richer hydration in my conditioners. I actually think I'm going to pass this along to my boyfriend - and I suspect he'll be obsessed with it.

Avalon Organics Revitalizing Peppermint Glycerin Hand Soap*
Because I'm a bit obsessive about the hand soap I've been using consistently for the past few years, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this, but I actually really, really like it. I find that it gets my hands really clean without drying them out and the brightness of the peppermint scent is really welcome. This one is definitely going to get used up, particularly in my kitchen. I don't know what it is, but this really feels like a kitchen hand soap for me!

Avalon Organics Rejuvenating Rosemary Bath & Shower Gel*
This was definitely the scent that I wasn't entirely sure about - and I have to admit that I'm still not sure. It has that really herbal, natural scent that I know a lot of people love, but it's just not personally my jam. That said, this formula is available in different scents and I actually really like the formula. I think this is a solid body wash that does a good job of cleaning the skin without being drying - and what more could one really ask for? Also, if you are into the scent, I really find that this does fill the shower for a really sensory experience.

Avalon Organics Nourishing Lavender Hand & Body Lotion*
If you read my blog with any kind of regularity, you may know that lavender is a scent that I've only recently really started to enjoy - and now, in the right situations, I really, really enjoy it. I like to use this lotion at night because that scent really does help to relax me, set my mind at ease, and get me to sleep. The lavender fragrance, to me, really smells like lavender essential oil rather than a lavender perfume type of scent, which is exactly what I'm looking for. As far as hydration, I'd say this is middle of the road and works well for a summertime night lotion because it's hydrating but not overly heavy.

Overall, I'm impressed with these products and definitely interested in trying more from the brand. My favorites are definitely the lemon hair products, which I'll continue to use a couple of times a month to really get in there and rid my hair of build up. I also definitely want to look into trying out the hand soap and the body wash in the lemon scent - because there's just nothing like lemon scent for me.
