REVIEW: Dew Puff Konjac Sponges

by - July 11, 2017

I have to say, I absolutely love a konjac sponge. It's actually been about five years since the first time I used one and I was hooked from the first use. I've also used them on my face as a really gentle exfoliation while I'm cleansing my skin and I've never found them to be irritating, which has always been the biggest thing for me. Recently, I jumped at the chance to try out the Dew Puff Pure Konjac Sponges* in three different varieties.

Keep reading for more!

Curious what a konjac sponge is? I was too! The Dew Puff Face & Body natural cleansing sponges are 100% plant based and actually come from the konjac root. When dry, these sponges are a little bit firm, but when you add water they grow and get incredibly soft. I've never actually felt anything else that has the same texture as a konjac sponge and I absolutely love the way they feel on my face.

Dew Puff Original Konjac Sponge*
Dew Puff natural sponges clean without drying out your skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and looking smooth and radiant. Gentle enough for any type of skin - even your baby's skin.

The thing I love about the Dew Puff Original is that it's quite a bit bigger when wet than other konjac sponges that I've used in the past, which makes it perfect for use on the body. I like to apply my body wash directly to this sponge the same way I would with a facial cleanser, suds it up in my hand, and just scrub away at my skin. This is so gentle and soft that it never feels uncomfortable or abrasive, but does provide really light exfoliation on the skin. I find that this sponge holds the body wash very well and really helps it to suds up, so I don't have to add more to get my whole body clean. I really, really love this!

Dew Puff Asian Clay Konjac Sponge*
Dew Puff Asian Clay natural sponge helps stimulate skin cells white absorbing impurities below the pore level. Leaves skin looking rejuvenated, renewed and helps reduce aging.

The way that I like to use the Dew Puff Asian Clay is actually as my rinsing step at the end of my cleansing routine, since it's recommended that you don't use this one with cleanser. After I've removed my makeup and cleansed my skin, I use this sponge to go in and make sure I got all the cleanser off and to stimulate my skin a little bit before I apply my other skin care. I find that the use of a konjac sponge is great in the morning because it helps my skin feel really smooth and ready for makeup, so that's definitely where I personally use this one the most.

Dew Puff Charcoal Konjac Sponge*

The Bamboo Charcoal natural sponge contains activated carbon and minerals to help prevent breakouts, plus antioxidants to fight acne-causing bacteria. This konjac sponge is soothing and helps fight blemished skin.

I like to use the Dew Puff Charcoal much the same way I use the Asian Clay version, as a last step after I've cleansed my skin. Because charcoal gets in and cleanses your pores, I like to use this one at night to really make sure my skin is clean and smooth before I apply my evening skin care. I think this could also be a good option for someone who experiences body acne for use in the shower!

Honestly, all three of these work very similarly for me and I would recommend choosing the one that you think would benefit your skin the most. I personally think a good starting point is the Dew Puff Original, because it can be used with cleanser for both face and body and that's my personal favorite way to use it. For people with sensitive skin who worry that this might be irritating, let me tell you... it's really not. Even though it's quite porous and provides exfoliation to the skin, these sponges are incredibly gentle and pampering on the skin.
