FAVORITES: July 2017

by - August 03, 2017

Can you believe we're already halfway through the summer months? It's amazing to me that we're already coming up on the August Long Weekend, but it's been a beautiful summer so far and even though it's going quickly I don't feel like it's been wasted. I spent the first week of the month on vacation, which I think somewhat influenced what I've been loving this month, but there's also definitely the summer influence coming hard in these since it's been hot and everything has been about ease for me.

To see what has been getting it done for me this month, keep reading!

All Of The Bronzer
When it comes to my makeup lately, I'm all about really warmed up, healthy looking skin lighter, bronzier looks on the eyes, which means that I'm reaching for bronzer more heavily than just about anything else.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
This is my holy grail, I'm just going to say that. You can tell by the sheer amount of pan you can see in this picture - It's time to pick up a backup - that I reach for this more than any other bronzer in my collection. It's just... so good that nothing else really holds up to it.

BH Cosmetics Rose Quartz Brush #1
I've discovered that this brush is my absolute favorite for applying bronzer this month. It's a pretty big brush overall so I can really feather out the product, but it's angled and the width is actually quite thin so I can use the brush at different angles to get some definition and precision in my application. Really, really love this brush.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer
This is another favorite bronzer of mine, second only to the Butter Bronzer, and I've definitely been alterating between the two. I actually usually tend to reach for this in the cooler months because it's light enough for my skin, but it's been working really well as a summer bronzer as well.

Long Wearing Lips
I don't like to fuss when it comes to my lipstick in the summer. While earlier in the summer that meant that I was going for really sheer, easy to wear shades, this past month has been all about high pigment that is comfortable and long lasting on the lips.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Matte Liquid Lipstick
I think this might be my favorite matte liquid lipstick formula ever. Not only is it super opaque in gorgeous colours, but it's also basically bulletproof - I've literally gotten 16 hours of wear out of these - and wears super comfortably on the lips without cracking and looking weird. Basically, this is a perfect formula, in my opinion, and it's from the drugstore. Dear Maybelline, please make this in literally of the shades ever.

AOA Studio Wonder Matte Liquid Lipstick in Hero
While this formula doesn't quite make it to the level of the Maybelline, it's still a really great formula that wears well and feels comfortable on the lips. Honestly, though, it's been all about this shade for me. I love the deep, burnt terracotta look it gives for when I'm really, really bronzey for a night out. I have a feeling this is one shade that's also going to shine in the fall, but I've still been loving it for summer.

Light Weight Hydration

VICHY Mineral 89 Fortifying & Plumping Daily Booster*
I've discovered over the past few weeks that if I wear moisturizer during the day, my foundation will almost certainly break down, so I've been going with this as a daily hydrator instead. Because this product has hyaluronic acid in it, it helps to pull moisture to the skin and keep it hydrated, but it also works really well under makeup almost as a primer because there's a bit of tackiness to the formula. It also has a really cooling feeling that I just love on the skin, making this kind of my perfect summer skin care product.

belif Moisturizing & Firming Eye Cream
I love love love this eye cream. Although this doesn't necessarily fit into the "light" category, it really doesn't feel heavy on the skin but it packs a lot of moisture that keeps my undereyes looking hydrated throughout the day. I've struggled with creasing under my eyes a lot in recent months, but this has been a game changer for that.

belif The Truth Cream Aqua Bomb
I fully, 100% get the hype around this product now that I've tried it. It's super moisturizing, but it doesn't feel heavy even in the slightest. Because my skin does skew more combination in the summer, this type of gel-cream is perfect for this time of year because it gives me the moisture I need without making my skin feel greasy and overwhelmed. It's just so good, I can't say enough good things.

Easy Going Hairstyles

Bumble and bumble. Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Heat UV Protective Primer
First off... This smells so good! I love putting it in my wet hair right after it's been washed and getting that really nice smell in there. I also really like how this helps my hair dry. I actually use this whether I'm going to be heat styling or not, because I really feel like it's also helping to protect my colour from the sun while making my hair feel and look really soft and healthy.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment
I really only use this if I'm going to be styling my hair using hot tools. I put this in my hair while it's damp before I dry it and I feel like it helps to hold a curl and make everything look really smooth when all is said and done. Because I like my hair to look un-fussy during the summer, this just helps to keep my undone look from looking too undone, if you know what I mean.

I really feel like all of my favorites this month really exemplify what my personal summer style is. Really warmed up, bronzey skin, bold lips that I don't need to reapply, hydrated skin that doesn't feel overwhelmed, and undone, beachy hair. As with every month, all of these products really get a stamp of approval from me!
