REVIEW: Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Water Cooling Primer Stick
Being a Canadian beauty lover, one of the most frustrating things is when there are drugstore products that are widely available and loved in the States but as yet unavailable in Canada. I know my fellow Canadians know the pain on this. One product that I've had grabbyhands for since its release is the Hard Candy Coconut Water Cooling Primer Stick. I've heard great things about it from some influencers that I really trust and it really seemed like this was a product I was going to love. Of course, as soon as I saw it on the shelf at my local Walmart I had to pick it up and try it out. I mean, right?

So basically this is a water-based primer stick intended to hydrate, cool, and soothe the skin while providing a smooth canvas for makeup application. To be perfectly honest, it was definitely the hydrating and cooling part of it that drew me in, but I also really enjoy a water-based primer to pair with water-based foundations because they work together rather than fighting with each other.
Let's start with the basics, shall we? This product is packaged in a jumbo stick form and contains 12g of product. I actually think this is plenty of product because you apply such a light layer of it over the skin, and I really think it's going to last me a long time. It has a very light coconut water scent that, to me, has a freshness to it that I really enjoy but is subtle enough that I don't get a nose full of it when I open the tube and I don't notice it on my skin.
My favorite thing about this product is definitely the cooling effect. I really like to use it under my eyes in the morning, because I feel like the cooling sensation helps to bring down puffiness from sleep and smooth out my undereye area for makeup. I have used this over my entire face and I do enjoy it that way as well, but where it really shines for me is under the eyes.
I've found that the best way to apply this for me is to do a light layer straight to the skin with the stick, leave it to sit for a few seconds, and then gently pat it in with your fingers. This really doesn't take much to sink into the skin and it leaves the skin feeling lightly cooled, hydrated and soft without leaving behind any heaviness or residue on the skin. I think that this does give a smoother appearance to the texture of the skin, but I haven't noticed a huge difference in the appearance of my pores while using it. I also haven't really noticed any difference in how much my undereyes crease, but I have seen more longevity and a more hydrated look to my undereyes when I've used this.
So, did it live up to the hype and excitement? I feel like it did. This isn't going to be a life changing type of product, in my opinion, but it is different than anything else in the drugstore and I think it does a really good job at what it does. If you're looking for a lightweight primer to provide some hydration without heaviness, to have a soothing effect on the skin, and give your skin and overall smoother look this could definitely be something worth trying out! I'm definitely going to keep using it.
