REVIEW: Roger & Gallet Bois D'Orange Body Care

by - November 03, 2017

You may recall that recently I testing out some skin care from the French brand Roger + Gallet, which is now available here in Canada on Sephora and I really, really enjoyed it. Now, I've gotten the chance to try out a couple more products from the brand, the Bois D'Orange Invigorating Shower Gel* and the Bois D'Orange Fragrant Wellbeing Water*. If you're confused about what "fragrant wellbeing water" is, don't worry. So was I!

Keep reading for more!

Admittedly, I was quite surprised by the Bois D'Orange scent these products have. I think I was expecting a brighter, sweeter orange scent that is more in line with what I'm used to from orange scented body care, but these are definitely more complex than that. The orange notes are paired with deeper, woodsier notes that give both of these products a real complexity to the way they smell that I personally love. One thing I would say about Roger + Gallet products, though, is that because the scents are quite unique they could end up being a deal breaker so if you're going to order them I'd really look at the descriptions and choose one that you really think will suit your taste.

Roger & Gallet Bois D'Orange Invigorating Shower Gel*
This fresh shower gel will awaken your senses and brighten your day. Made with a botanical cleansing base, it creates a fine, generous, fragrant lather that feels incredibly soft on the skin and rinses off easily. Enriched with aloe vera and orange blossom extract, it has a hydrating and invigorating effect. The sensorial formula envelops you delicately with the fresh and lively notes of the Bois D’Orange scent.

I really, really like this shower gel. Like I said above, I personally really, really enjoy this scent and I particularly like a hint of citrus to shower products because they help to perk me up during groggy morning showers (though, admittedly, I'm more of a night time shower kind of girl.) I think this one has a really nice lather, but doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or tight after I get out of the shower. Though the fragrance is quite strong, I don't find that this is too strong on the body once its rinsed off, which is actually my personal preference. Overall, I think this is a really nice body wash and I would pick it up again.

Roger & Gallet Bois D'Orange Fragrant Wellbeing Water*

This Orange Blossom scent was inspired by a stroll through the gardens of the Alhambra, walking in the shade of the orange trees and breathing in the fresh, sunny air. At the heart of the fragrance, essential oils of mandarin and sweet orange blend with precious distilled essences of petit grain, cedar, and patchouli. This fragrance was created exclusively for Roger & Gallet by French Master Perfumer Dominique Ropion. The bottle was designed by Martin Szekely.

Okay, so what is "Fragrant Wellbeing Water"? It's just a fragrance, but interestingly I do find that this behaves a little differently than a lot of fragrances that I personally wear. I'm not sure why, but this doesn't really feel like a perfume to me. While it does have a strong fragrance and though it stays really well on the skin throughout the day, I've never noticed it to be overwhelming at all on me. I lingers and smells really good, but I don't think it necessarily gives off that "she's wearing perfume" vibe. And personally, I absolutely love the scent. It feels European to me - which is again a really weird thing to say. The citrus is there, but it's blended with that rich woodsiness that makes it feel more sophisticated. It's hard to explain - like most scents are for me - but I'm kind of in love with it.

I have to say, I'm really happy with both of these products and I would definitely repurchase. I also think that these would be a great gift idea if you have someone who likes bath and body products, because there's something a little bit more luxurious about them. Just make sure to read the description of the scents, because they are definitely unique.
