REVIEW: GummiBand Hair Cords

by - December 13, 2017

Honestly, I'm basically a hair tie junkie. I actually recently left a foot of hair on my hairdressers floor, but up until then I was basically the queen of the messy bun and I was using hair ties every single day. Let me tell you, all hair ties are not created equal. Recently, I had the opportunity to try out some hair cords from the new Canadian brand Gummibands and they're definitely living up to what I hoped they would. Obviously I love supporting Canadian, so I was really stoked to have the opportunity to try them out and share them with you guys!

As you can see, Gummibands are available in wide range of colours and are sold in blocks of 4 for $7.99CAD. They come with a 1 year warranty and are reusable for years. When they get stretched out, all you have to do is apply some heat to them, either with a blowdryer or a cup of hot water, and they'll return to their original shape. They're hypoallergenic and don't breed bacteria because they don't absorb liquid. Finally, they say that they're suitable for all hair types and recommend that people with thick hair double up and use two for extra hold. All sounds pretty good, right?

My favorite things about these are actually functional things. The first is that they don't break my hair. When I use these, I find that I can pull them out easily without bringing any of my hair with them. With traditional hair ties, I generally end up with at least a few hairs tangled in them by the end of the day, which is always really annoying. The second thing that I really love about these is that they don't dent my hair, which means that I can take my hair down and I'm not going to have weird lumps and bumps in my style. When I first started using this type of hair cord, I didn't actually believe that they could live up to that promise, but they really do!

Overall, I'm really happy with my Gummibands and even since I cut my hair I've been keeping them in my bathroom for when I pull my hair back to wash my face and also on my vanity for while I do my makeup, and they're working really well even on short hair that tends to like to sneak out of it's pony. I would recommend these for literally pretty much anyone, but I can't help but feel like they'd be extra good for little kids because they come out of the hair so easily so you won't have a tangle fight on your hands.

Gummibands* are available online at gummiband.ca and retail for $7.99CAD for a pack of 4 in the colour of your choice.
