FEATURED FIVE: Essential Road Trip Beauty Products

by - August 23, 2019

Happy Friday! As you read this, I will be tucked in a car in the first chunk of a very, very long drive for a very, very short visit to go to a wedding in Calgary this weekend. I was actually thinking about maybe doing a What's In My Travel Bag kind of a post, but then I decided it just... wouldn't be very helpful because it would just be skincare that I'm testing out right now and very specific makeup choices based on the wedding. However, when I was making my list of what to pack, I was thinking about what I wanted to have on hand, in my purse rather than in my suitcase and it occurred to me that I wanted to do a Featured Five on what I need with me in the car, at hand.

So keep reading to check out my Featured Five Road Trip Beauty Essentials!

1. Dearboo Everyday Mist Watermelon
I actually just picked this up on a whim and I'm definitely not in love with it or anything, but it's a really nice hydrating mist that's easy to just spritz on my face for a refresh throughout the day. I didn't want to be reapplying moisturizer or anything like that, but I'm a bit of a mist junkie and this one gets the job done. It also has a really soft watermelon scent that's just super, super enjoyable and refreshing to me.

2. Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA ++++
This has been my go to sunscreen this summer - review to come! - and because I'm going to be in a car for 12+ hours, which is basically in the sun as far as I'm concerned, I wanted to bring along this lightweight SPF so that I can reapply and protect my skin all day. This one was a no brainer for me because it's so lightweight that reapplying it doesn't get my hands greasy or add too much shine to my face.

3. Cuter Cuticles Key Lime Pie Cuticle Oil
I'm basically a cuticle oil junkie at this point and I knew that I absolutely had to have one of my Cuter Cuticles products in my bag and ready for several applications throughout the day. I went with the Cuticle Oil over the Barrier Butter (which will undoubtedly also be in my makeup bag) for my purse because it sinks in a little more quickly and the rollerball applicator makes it really easy to apply - even in the car.

4. Delectable Triple Citrus Blend Body Butter Cream*
Like my cuticle oil, I'm also a junkie for hand cream and need to have one with me at all times. I feel like I tend to apply hand cream in the car a lot, even when I'm just driving in the city, so I knew I had to have a bottle on hand. I chose this one because it's really, really rich and moisturizing and also just smells really, really good. Honestly, this pick could be any hand cream that I like, but this is the one I went with and it's a really good option.

5. NIVEA Essential Lip Balm
If there is a true, ride-or-die long term favorite in this post, it's definitely this lip balm. There's nothing flashy about it, it doesn't perform miracles or have some amazing scent or anything like that. It's just insanely good and keeps my lips looking and feeling moisturized and plump. I have this lip balm literally in my purse, next to my bed, on my coffee table, on my vanity, and on my backup shelf because it's basically my version of crack and I use it every single day. So. Of course it was coming along on my trip with me.

Honestly, for me, this is less about the specific products than it is about the types of products that I need to have at hand. Facial mist for hydration throughout the day, my all time favorite workhorse lip balm, hand cream, cuticle oil, and SPF. I don't need to be fussy while I'm driving across the prairies, I won't be wearing makeup and I will absolutely be wearing sweatpants while I read eBooks and listen to podcasts, so I just need products that get the job done. And, even if they're not all my absolute favorite product recommendations, all five of these products definitely get the job done and are a pleasure to use!

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for reading!
