REVIEW: Dove Fresh Coconut Dry Shampoo
I hate washing my hair. How's that for the start to a blog post? It's true, though. Having wet hair is just the grossest feeling for me and in the summer I would pretty much rather do anything that pull out a blowdryer, so dry shampoo is basically a summer BFF for me. Recently, I got to try out a new option from one of my personal favorite dry shampoo lines, the Dove Fresh Coconut Dry Shampoo*. Dove's lineup of dry shampoos have actually been a staple for me for a few years now and I always have a bottle of the unscented one on hand, but I was really excited for the Fresh Coconut scent because I love a beachy smelling summer scent in my hair.

When it comes to dry shampoo, I really only have two requirements, but finding a product that fulfills both can be a bit of a pain. First and foremost, it needs to work. I mean, obviously, right? But there's a caveat, it needs to work without leaving a bunch of residue that makes my hair feel dirtier, because that's something that I just can't stand. While I do like the volume and texture that tends to come from dry shampoo, it also has to maintain a lightness. The second requirement is that it doesn't leave a white cast. I have dark hair with some greys coming in at the roots, so if I use a dry shampoo that casts I end up looking like I just need to visit my colorist.
I'm thrilled to say that like the other dry shampoos in their range, this one hits both of my requirements really, really well and is a no brainer to reach for on the day to day. My favorite way to use this is on third day hair (I don't bother with dry shampoo on second day hair because I'm not particularly oily) and really work it through the hair, brush it out, and then throw my hair in a messy bun or a brain. The dry shampoo really helps to add some texture to the style and ends up giving an effortless feel to the look.
Of course, I can't finish this review without saying something about the smell - and let me tell you, I am about this scent and absolutely love it in my hair for summer. The combination of coconut and lime smells like a fresh beachy cocktail and I just love it. If you're a fan of tropical scents, this is definitely worth getting a nose full of this summer!
I'm really not surprised that Dove is continuing to get it done with their new Fresh Coconut Dry Shampoo because they've always been super impressive to me, but if you haven't tried out any of their offerings yet, I definitely recommend giving them a go. They also have an unscented version, which is not only super rare but I think is really, really necessary for those with scent sensitivities or who work in fragrance free environments and haven't been able to use dry shampoo as a result!
