REVIEW: Physicians Formula Organic Wear Double Cleansing Oil

by - February 20, 2020

Are we surprised, friends? A new cleansing oil came out in the drugstore and I absolutely had to review it. Because I so massively love the Physicians Formula The Perfect Matcha Cleansing Balm, as soon as I saw that they had released a cleansing oil in their Organic Wear range, I was basically all in immediately. Literally, I bought it the day that my local Shoppers Drug Mart put out the display.

So, without further ado, let's get into my review of the new Physicians Formula Organic Wear Double Cleansing Oil, shall we?

WHAT IT IS:
A unique bi-phase Cleansing Oil that combines a cleansing water with a purifying oil to help clean, restore, and nourish the skin in one easy step.
WHY IT’S GOOD FOR YOU:
This purifying double cleansing oil warms on contact to effortlessly melt away dirt, makeup, impurities, and clogged pores. Developed with Organic Rosehip Oil, Organic Aloe Vera, and Organic Chamomile to replenish skin’s natural radiance, revealing a soft glowing complexion.
KEY INGREDIENTS:
Organic Rosehip Oil, Organic Aloe Vera, Organic Chamomile, Botanical Cactus Flower & Organic Jojoba Oil.

This is one of those times where it's really, really important to read the label and the directions because the first time I used this it was a total and complete fail. I didn't realize that it was a biphase product that I needed to shake before I pumped it out and because of that I ended up with only the really thick, heavy part of the formula that sits at the bottom of the bottle and it was basically impossible to use. SO. Don't forget that this is a biphase product (the color differential is pretty subtle, so it can be easy to miss) and it does need to be shaken before you pump it out and use it.

Once you shake it up, this is still a pretty thick texture and it feels like it tightens up even a little bit further as you work it into the skin rather than melting away. I'm not one for emulsifying my oil based cleanser (the texture makes me really, really uncomfortable and I find it's unnecessary generally) so I just really work this into the skin. I apply it all over, including over my eyes, and then work it into the cheeks and forehead to loosen up that makeup before moving on to gently work away my eye makeup. With this oil, I do find that I have to be really careful around my eyes because I have had some short term stinging if I get it in my eyes. To remove, I use warm water and a wash cloth. Because this is a pretty intense oil, I would actually recommend a couple of passes with the wash cloth to really make sure everything is removed.

Overall, I think that this works well to really break up and remove makeup, though I do find that I need to go in with a cotton pad and some micellar water to really make sure all of my mascara is gone because it can leave some of the more stubborn makeup behind. Ultimately, even though I do like it and I think that it's fairly effective, for me this just doesn't live up to their cleansing balm and won't be replacing it in my routine. If you prefer a cleansing oil to a balm though and like a richer textured first cleanse experience, I do think this is worth trying out. It's not a bad product by any means, it just doesn't get all the way there and live up to my hero cleanser.

The Physicians Formula Organic Wear Cleansing Oil is available now where Physicians Formula is sold and retails for $19.99CAD.
