MANI MONDAY: Soft & Shifty Floral Nails

by - May 04, 2020

Happy May the 4th, everyone! I know this is totally cliché, but can you believe that it's actually May already? 2020 really is shaping up to be one of the weirdest years of my lifetime - and I suspect most of our lifetimes - but it also feels like it's passing at lightning speed. Anyway, for May, me and the #CBBxManiMonday girls decided to do Floral themed nails. I have to admit... I don't feel like this is where my creativity really shines, so I suspect this month will be about featuring some really pretty base polishes with some added floral stamping - I've got some amazing new polishes in my collection and I want to show them all off!

But without further ado, let's get onto the nails, shall we?

For this mani, I wanted to use KBShimmer's I'm sMitten, which is a super pale, dusty lilac shade packed with warm toned shifty shimmer and a hint of holo. I had been wanting to get my hands on this polish from their most recent winter collection, but I've only finally gotten my hands on it just now. It's a seriously unique shade and I love how much dimension it has for being such a soft shade. I applied two coats of this for my base. I also applied a coat of Essence Extreme Shine Top Coat to my first and pinkie fingers.

Next, I wanted to add some complimentary flakies to my middle two nails. Really looking at the shades that the shimmer in the base polish shifts, the NailStuff.ca Nail Flakes in Copper Flame* seemed like the perfect pairing so I applied them pretty heavily using foil glue and my NailStuff.ca Clear Stamper*. I really, really like the result because I feel like it doesn't overly change the base colour and instead really compliments and amps it up. For some added dimension, I applied a coat of Essie Matte About You Top Coat to really amplify the texture of the flakies.

For the stamping, I went with an old favorite. I used the Born Pretty Store BP-L004 Valentine's Day Stamping Plate and applied this sort of lacy rose image using white stamping polish. I love this image and I've actually used it several times in the past because it's really pretty but also really subtle. And voila!
