NAIL ART: Simple Red & White Valentine's Day Nails

by - February 11, 2021

Hey guys! This week has gotten away from me a little bit and I ended up missing my planned upload yesterday - but these things happen and I'm going to make sure that I still get the same number of mani's that I had originally planned for Valentine's Day - there just might be a bit of a double up tomorrow. Anyway, for today's Valentine's Day themed nail art, I decided to keep it simple and went with a pairing of red and white with some graphic details and a little bit of cuteness.

Once again, I started with one of my current absolute favorite nail art bases - OPI's Robots Are Forever, which I have literally been going crazy trying to find another bottle of somewhere on the internet because it was limited edition and I love it so absolutely much. It's a milky white base that's packed with these really pretty silver flakes that just gives a perfect base for nail art. For this mani, though, since I'm trying to conserve this bottle as long as possible, I started with one coat of a milky white crelly polish and then added one coat of Robots Are Forever to get the desired coverage while using less of my precious.

I decided to go in with a diagonal French detail on all but my ring finger and I honestly just sort of slapped it on straight from the bottle using the same stamping polish that I was planning to use for my stamping. This is honestly a really, really great technique for some simple, beginning friendly nail art and I think you can really do it with just about any colour pairing and have a cool look.

Of course, I had to go in with some stamping, so I grabbed for an oldie but a goodie from my collection - Maniology's collab plate with ellandish. Obviously I had to use the "love" script for a Valentine's Day mani and I chose the one that would best fully cover my middle finger from base to tip and kept the image nice and close to the side edge of my nail. For my accent nail, I kept it really simple and just stamped this all over hearts image that ends up having a bit of a pop art feel to me in the end.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed in all of my nails with a water based top coat and then finished with a generous coat of glossy quick dry top coat and voila!

I feel like sometimes just keeping it simple is best and when it comes to a really specific holiday like Valentine's Day you can really get the vibe across without too much fuss or muss. I also think this is absolutely a mani that you could pretty easily recreate at home even if you're not into stamping, because the hearts and the script are easier to hand paint than some other designs.

Anyway, be sure to check back tomorrow for (hopefully) two more Valentine's Day themed nail art designs!

Thanks for reading!
