Man, I love a theme. Honestly, I'm kind of amazed that I haven't jumped on every possible holiday I could to create themed nail art - in fact, I'm kind of shooken that I missed St Patrick's Day, but... it happens. Anyway, Easter is a great theme for a few pretty obvious reasons. Pastels are great for nails. Honestly, I get SO EXCITED for pastel season because I just love working with them, I love the manis that I create with them, and I feel like they're really universally flattering. Also, bunnies are adorable and easter eggs are... a treasure trove of design possibilities. Anyway, I love a theme and I am going to ride this theme into the ground possibly... but here is my first 2021 Easter themed mani!

I decided right at the outset that my plan for this mani was to keep it low contrast - like I said in yesterday's post, I'm apparently in a bit of a low contrast zone right now - and I wanted to keep it in this sort of lavender family. I decided to start with two coats of Alchemy Lacquer's Dreamland Sunset, from February's Polish Pickup, as my base. This is a really, really beautiful polish in a soft lavender shade that is really delicate but also has has a lot of texture from the shifty flakies in it. 

As I said, I wanted to keep the contrast more subtle, so I decided to go in with argyle stamping using Clear Jelly Stamper's Vintage Lavender, which is a a little bit lighter than the base polish but really lives in the same tone and kept everything soft. I applied that to all of my nails before going in with the easter themed stamping. I went with a charcoal grey stamping polish for this, which I think has enough contrast that it doesn't get lost but also seems to really feel cohesive and make sense with the overall look.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a layer of water based top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat. And voila!

I really do think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this Easter theme, so keep checking back here on the blog for the rest of the week to see what other pastel bunny egg cuteness I can come up with - I've got some ideas rattling around already.
