NAIL ART: Muted Mauve Blobby Abstract Floral Nails
Hey guys! I hope everyone had a great weekend - I personally had a straight up meltdown with worry about my dog's health, so I will admit that this week's floral themed #CBBxManiMonday was a little bit thrown together at the last minute while I enjoyed a vodka soda and a rewatch of Ever After on Disney+ after getting some very relieving news from the vet... as you do. I feel like, for times like these where you want to do nail art but are running low on time and creativity, the rise of the blobby abstract nails trend is an absolute winner. You just kind of... slap it on and go. And because I'm me, of course, I added some floral stamping for good measure.

I very sincerely had no idea what I wanted to do when I sat down to paint my nails last night, but I had Cirque Colors' Shale sitting out on my nail desk and something about the duskiness and coziness of it just absolutely called to me so I went in with two coats to all of my nails as a base and let those dry down completely.
For the blobs, I had some new polishes from Kokie that I've been meaning to try and this rich mauve seemed like a perfect fit to offset this base color, along with the white really adding a sharp contrast that I think that this mani needed. For the placement of my blobs, I wanted to create a subtle directional feel, pointing towards the middle, if that makes sense. I do try to really think about the placement of my blobs from a design perspective, because I think that ends up creating a more visually appealing design. To do the blobs, I literally just decide where I want them to go and then use my NailStuff.ca 11mm Nail Art Liner Brush** to freeform the outline of the blob before filling it in.
Once I was happy with the blobby design, I decided to go in with this really fine lined floral stamping using the Pict You PY-X019 Stamping Plate. When choosing the images I was going to use for each nail, I tried to think a lot about scale because I wanted to fill the nail without it feeling heavy (which I think I mostly accomplished.) I used a black stamping polish to get a good contrast but maintain a simple vibe.
Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed in my design with a water based top coat and finished with a layer of quick dry matte top coat to smooth everything and take down the shine. And voila!

Considering the circumstances, I must say I'm pretty happy overall with how this turned out. I love these types of designs and I feel like the possibilities for how you could use them are absolutely endless when you think about color combos and themes you could go with. Love it! Not for a very, very bad brain space, I'd say. (Ever After helped...)
