HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Grungey Green Spooky Spiders Nails

by - October 04, 2021

I've spent... an incredible amount of time since sometime in August brainstorming ideas for how I was going to do an entire month of Halloween themed nail art and I've actually checked a lot of those ideas off my list and done nail art that falls in line with what I had planned. This mani, however, is one of those ones that just sort of happened experimentally while I was sitting at my nail desk trying to find some inspiration. And, really, inspiration is pretty much guaranteed when you pick up a long time favorite polish and a long time favorite stamping plate and smash them together, right?

This Isn't Greenland from OPI came out four years ago and I've been basically in love with it ever since - and since this bottle is starting to get a little low, I think I'm going to have to track down a back up while their stockists still have some because it's a must have in my collection. This pistachio green créme is just... the perfect green nail polish, in my opinion, and a solidly awesome option for creating something a little creepy. For this mani, I applied two coats to all of my nails and let them dry down completely.

For the stamping, I grabbed for the Nicole Diary L12 Stamping Plate, which is definitely a Halloween must have in my collection. I didn't want to leave the background plain for this mani, especially being a simple créme, so I decided to start with some grunge stamping to all of my nails using a charcoal nail polish paired with an olive green stamping polish for an almost messy sort of grunge look. Next, I went in with a black stamping polish and this full coverage spiders image, alternating direction and applying it to all of my nails.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a matte top coat to take down the shine and really drive home the grunge vibe. And voila!

Not going to lie, as I'm looking at these pictures I'm definitely getting a little bit of creepy crawlies (although admittedly that could also be because of the actual spider I saw maybe 10 minutes ago on my mailbox....) Anyway, I love this look for Halloween - it's a little bit more simple when it comes to execution, but I think the layered stamping really makes it feel more intricate and detailed.

Check back every day in October for more Halloween themed nail designs and head over to @pblnails for video tutorials of all of my nail art! And don't forget to head over to Cosmetic Proof and See The World In PINK for more #CBBxManiMonday nail art!
