NAIL ART: Fluffy Blue Cloudy Skies Nails

by - March 01, 2023

THIS POST IS IN PARTERSHIP WITH PUEEN COSMETICS.

So even though where I live it is absolutely nowhere near being spring weather, it has been a very long winter at this point and I am just so ready to lean into spring now that we've officially entered what I think most of us in the northern hemisphere would categorize as the spring months. So now that my brain is in the spring months zone, I decided to start with what I think of as a very springy sort of vibe with a fluffy cloud design that I've actually been holding onto in my mind for months now - just waiting for the arrival of spring. Anyway...

This was another situation of I was recently gifted this base polish from a friend of  mine during her destash before a move and I was super excited to try it out so I decided to make it work. Luckily, I feel like this soft blue is sort of perfect for this fluffy clouds design and the multichrome flakes in the crelly base add a pretty interesting texture that I think works overall. I applied two coats of my base polish and let those dry down before I moved onto my stamping.

Though I don't often mention it in my blog posts explicitly, you will notice that I pretty much always have the Pueen Latex Tape Liquid Peel Off Cuticle Guard in my nail art posts, especially when I'm doing stamping or gradients or smooshes. While this post is sponsored by Pueen, I did want to tell you guys that I've been using this product for literal years now, long before I worked with the brand, and it's  a must have in my collection. I always, always apply it around my cuticles when I'm doing stamping.

And speaking of stamping, I kept it really, really simple for this mani and just applied the same image to all of my nails. Because this image is quite large and triangular, I was able to shift and move it a little bit to get a little bit of variation on the nails, but I really did try to keep this one simple.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a layer of matte top coat to bring down the shine and give that almost velvety look to the design. And voila!

Even though I would definitely say that I have a tendency to overthink and sometimes overdesign when it comes to nail art, I think there's definitely something really beautiful about a simple, straightforward design like this one.

If you're interested in any of the Pueen products I used to create this mani, they are all available on Amazon and I think they're a great option for both stamping newcomers as well as long time nail artists. Highly recommend.

Thanks for reading!
