HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Simple Black & Grey Bats Nails
I think sometimes, in my everything and the kitchen sink approach to nail art, I tend to forget how much value there can be in just keeping it simple. For today's Halloween nail design, I wanted to put together a mani that balanced simplicity with a visually interesting design - and I feel pretty good about it. It's very simple, but there's bats... so what more could a person need?

I knew that for this mani I wanted to keep it quite monochrome - though I will own up to cheating that just a bit. For the base polish, I went with this warm mid-toned grey shade from ASP called Grey vs. Gray*. This polish has a really subtle shimmer to it and is just the perfect grey, in my opinion, for Halloween nails. After I had applied two coats, though, I decided that I wanted to a bit more texture and twinkle to the design, so I went in one coat of Sally Hansen Glazed Top Coat, which is an iridescent flakie topcoat with a pinky-purple lean to it.
Once my base was dry, I went in with my stamping using the KADS Halloween 008 Stamping Plate. I knew that I wanted to use the sort of lacy angled image for this mani, but I didn't want to apply it to every single nail, so I decided to pair it with another bat image from the plate. I applied the lacy image to my pointer finger more towards the base of the nail and to my ring finger more towards the tip. I then paired the bat from the tip of that image with the excess removed with the larger single bat image and added those both to the rest of my nails as well as the more bare spots in the two fingers featuring the larger image.
Once I was happy with my design, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and finished with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

Admittedly, I did worry at first whether this might might be a bit too simple, but in the end I decided to really lean into and enjoy the simplicity. While Halloween may not seem like the best time for minimalist designs, I still definitely think you can pull them off.
