HALLOWEEN NAIL ART | Smoky Blue Velvet Spiderwebs Nails

by - October 24, 2024

There is definitely something to be said for keeping it very, very simple with your Halloween nails and just applying a full cover spiderweb image, don't you think? Simple, effective, and you can pretty much create any vibe you want based on what you do with the base polish/design. For this mani, I combined smoky shades of blue with my favorite full cover spiderweb image to create this simple design with a surprising amount of visual interest.

For my base, I really wanted to create an atypical gradient using only shades cool blue and grey. After applying one coat of the lightest color in my gradient to all of my nails and letting that dry, I applied blobs of one grey shade and two ashy blues to my makeup sponge, focusing on balancing each shade and creating points of light and shadow using the lightest and darkest shades. I then did three passes of sponging on each nail, building to the opacity and blend I was looking for.

Before moving onto my stamping, I decided on a bit of a whim that I wanted to add some texture to the base, so I then went in with one coat of a linear holo top coat. Even though I always intended to mattify the design and knew that the holo wouldn't really come through, I knew the fine particles of the linear holo would add a really nice glow and texture. I then went in with my stamping, alternating the direction of placement so that each nail looked a little different.

Once I was happy with my design, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a matte top coat to bring down the shine and give that sort of grungy vibe. And voila!
