Unboxing Memebox LuckyBox #2

by - May 06, 2014

I swear, ever since I received my first Memebox a couple of weeks ago, I've been stalking my CanadaPost app to check on the tracking of the second one. I basically did a dance on Sunday night when I found that it had been received in the city and that it would be delivered yesterday. I was a little bit worried that after how amazing the first box was, I would be disappointed by this one, but I can definitely say that this one was also a big win and contained only one product that I won't use.

As I mentioned in this post, Memebox is NOT a subscription service. Instead, you will receive emails when a new box is released for sale and order as you see fit. In the past couple of weeks, even more theme boxes have been released and it seems like there's something for everyone. These boxes are definitely heavier on skincare than they are on makeup, but that's exactly what I'm going for with these and I'm always impressed. Korean Skincare is definitely becoming my go to.

As with last month, I received 8 products this month - two of which are sheet masks and were listed together on the info card. Let's take a closer look at the contents of my box..

1. LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence - 20ml DELUXE SAMPLE - Value: $12.80
This was actually one of the spoiler items from this box and it was definitely what sold me on ordering it. The description says:
A lightly textured tea tree oil formulated with sensitive skin in mind. Made from 90% tea tree extract, LJH's Tea Tree Essence 90 clears, moisturizes and brightens troubled skin, targeting acne and delivering nutrients for a hydrated. vibrant complexion.
Let's just say that if this does what it claims, I'm going to be a very happy camper. I have dry skin with occasional breakouts on my cheeks (one of which I happen to be in the middle of right now) so I need products that are going to help with the appearance of my skin as far as keeping it clear without drying it out. I popped a little bit of this on a couple of blemishes this morning, so we'll see how it goes.

2. Espoir Color Fit Rouge Gloss in PK002 Magic Hour - FULL SIZE -Value: $15
This is a pretty creamy lip gloss in a kind of mauve/pink shade. On my lips, this comes off definitely like a kind of your lips but better shade. At first I didn't think there was a scent, but when I just gave it a very deliberate sniff, it smelled like beer - which is a really weird smell for a lip gloss to have. The feel of it on the lips is really lovely. It's creamy and smooth, without any shimmer, and I don't feel any stickiness to it at all. I'm actually really surprised at how impressed I am by this particular product.

3. Dr. Jart V7 Eye Serum - 15ml FULL SIZE - Value: $38
This was the second spoiler item, and most definitely the one I had been looking forward to. Though I'm not seeing a ton of signs of aging around my eyes yet, I'm definitely really noticing my dark circles lately. This product claims that it will brighten the skin and get rid of dark circles, and if it works I will definitely be on the train. The trick, I think, will be that I need to stop being so devil may care about regularly applying eye cream. Maybe then I'll see a real difference. Also, I'm hoping that this will have anti-aging benefits as well.

4. Nuganic Customized Sunblock Fresh SPF50PA+++ - 40ml FULL SIZE - Value: $45
This is a very expensive sunblock, that's my first thought when I look at the retail value of it. It says that it has 3-in-1 sun protection with brightening and anti-wrinkle properties (BIG FAN!) and that it protects your skin while enhancing your complexion (AGAIN, BIG FAN!) Like everything else I've mentioned so far, if this works the way that it claims it will, I'll be on board. I have pasty pale skin and want to protect it from sun damage, so I'm a big fan of a good sunscreen come summertime and I'm looking forward to using this on my face and seeing how it works out.

5. Miseenscene 2X Curl Essence - 30ml SAMPLE - Value: $2
Apparently this is a weirdly misnamed product, at least according to the info card. Rather than being for curls, this is said to be a nourishing leave-in treatment that provides volume and helps rejuvenate dry and damaged hair. Sounds good to me and I'll give it a go. My hair could use a little R&R lately and I've been resisting picking up my favorite hair mask in order to save a little money, so maybe this will do something good.

6. Dr.G BIO-RTx Mentor Cream - 20ml DELUXE SAMPLE - Value: $14
This is the product that I was bummed about. I got #3, which is for oily skin. The description says that this cream controls sebum production and enhances skin to ensure that skin retains a moisture balance without getting too oily. I could probably try it, since I like to control sebum, but I think I'll probably just give it away to a friend or family member who needs it more than I do.

7. Leaders Insolution Coconut Bio Mask With Tomato - 1pc SHEET MASK - Value: $3
Leaders Insolution BIO Medi-curing Mask Aqua Dressing - 1pc SHEET MASK - Value: $3
Both of these masks are said to have a cool feeling and dramatically reduce the appearance of any wrinkles. I'm down with that... But let's be honest, I'm always down with sheet masks and these are going to go right into the stash for some future evening when I'm feeling like a little pamper. This is what happens to all my sheet masks and I feel like eventually I'll use them up, right? RIGHT?

Total Value: $132.80

Before I actually did the math on how much this box was worth, I really didn't think that it was going to get anywhere near the last one, so I was surprised when it came within $3 of Luckybox #1 as far as value is concerned. I'm pretty excited to try out the products in this box as well, other than the Mentor Cream, and I'm definitely going to keep getting Memeboxes whenever they appeal to me. I have one on its way to me right now, but it hasn't hit the border yet and will probably be a couple more weeks before it's in my hot little hands... but I do love having something to look forward to.

XO.
