REVIEW: Amie New Bloom Facial Cleansing Wipes

by - January 13, 2015

Sometimes I am really lazy. One of my New Years Resolutions this year is to be a little more responsible with my skincare routine, and part of that is always remembering to take off my makeup. Now, I know myself well enough to know that my full evening skincare routine is sometimes gonna get skipped. There are some nights where I just can't, especially when I find myself exhausted and already upstairs in the general vicinity of the bed. The bathroom is a staircase away in our house and sometimes I've just gone too far. Enter the nightstand staples of cleansing wipes and a gentle nighttime moisturizer. Don't get me wrong, I know that my skin does best with a double cleanse followed by toner, serum, moisturizer and eye cream, but like I said... sometimes I just can't. I recently picked up a couple of items from Amie Skincare because I was dying to see if they held up to all of the reviews that I've read in the past few months, and one of those items was the Amie New Bloom Gentle Cleansing Wipes.

Keep reading for my thoughts on this product.

From the Amie Skincare website:
Amie’s NEW BLOOM Gentle Facial Cleansing wipes are beautifully soft wipes that instantly wipe away dirt, oil and make-up and help leave skin feeling toned and moisturized.
These fragrance-free wipes are suitable for all skin types including sensitive.
They contain skin-friendly natural extracts of pomegranate, cranberry and green tea for beautifully clear, soft and radiant skin.

I've used a lot of cleansing wipes in my time, I admit, and none have ever stood head and shoulders above the rest. Some have fallen far below, though, leaving my skin tight and uncomfortable after use. This one, I have to say, is fairly on par with most of the good ones I've tried. I feel like one cloth does really get all of my makeup off and leaves my skin feeling fairly clean afterwards, enough that I'm comfortable using these before bed on those nights when I'm lazy. I also like to use them if my face feels grimy at the end of the day and I just want to get all that guck off when it's way too early for my nighttime routine.

PROS
Light, fresh scent that isn't perfumey and doesn't linger.
Removes all of my makeup easily and without unnecessary tugging or pulling. (NOTE: I do not wear waterproof mascara, so I can't speak to the effectiveness of removing waterproof makeup.)
Leaves my skin feeling clean and soft.
Doesn't leave a sticky or slimy residue on my skin.
Doesn't irritate my skin at all.
Affordable price. At under $7, these are competitively priced in the drugstore.
Claims - They do a really good job of taking my makeup off and leave my skin clean without drying my skin out at all.

CONS
Packaging - I find it somewhat flimsy and after a couple of uses they can be hard to reseal.
Texture - A little bit scratchy, on both sides, though not dealbreaker uncomfortable.

Overall, I think these are perfectly adequate wipes. They are definitely better than a lot of wipes I've tried, which dry out and irritate my skin or aren't all that effective at getting my makeup off. I don't think that these are holy grail status at all, but they get the job done and I would probably repurchase them. I'm also very much looking forward to trying more products from this brand.

The quest for the perfect cleansing wipe continues. Any suggestions?
