EMPTIES - May 2015 Products I Used Up
So in last month's empties post (which I mistakenly titled as being May Empties, because sometimes my brain escapes me) I mentioned that I found a baggie full of empties from some undetermined time while I was doing some spring cleaning. I recognize that this is a weird thing for a person to find, but I assume I'm not the first beauty blogger who has tucked some of their finished products away and promptly forgot about them only to find them at a later date. Right??? Tell me I'm not some weird trash-hoarding woman! Anyway, this month's empties post is pretty much insane and as I write this, I wonder if I'm even going to be able to remember how I felt about a lot of these products... but we'll see how it goes!
Keep reading for a look at all of the products I've used up... sometime in 2015.
1. Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask
As I recall, I quite liked this mask. I picked it up after reading a rave review online and though I wouldn't say I'm jumping up and down about it, I actually do quite like it. It's also extremely affordable, so I could definitely see myself picking this up again in the future.
2. Baléa Hydrating Face Mask with Sweet Almond Oil & Vitamin A
You know that as soon as I saw Sweet Almond Oil, this was coming home with me. I really like Baléa masks in general and I seem to recall that this one was pretty nice. Nothing to write home about though.
3. Baléa Oil Removing Mud Face Mask with Tea Tree Oil
I'm pretty sure I didn't like this one (even though I literally just said I really like Baléa masks) because it just wasn't right for my skin. My skin is normal leaning dry and so this just wasn't a good fit.
4. Pure Smile Muddy Girl Pack in Charcoal
I remember really, really liking this mask and wishing that I had another one to use. Of course, I received it in a Memebox, so this was not to come true, but I liked it and I would definitely snap it up again if I had the chance.
5. L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Instant Miracle Replenishing Care
I've mentioned this product in past Empties posts as well as in my Best Hair Products of 2014 post, so readers of this blog will know how much I really love it. It smells like delicious marshmallows and it makes my hair insanely soft without having to spend extra time letting it sit on my hair. It's good, friends, and I'll definitely repurchase for the... I don't know, eighth time?
6. Herbal Essences Tea Lightfully Clean Shampoo
This winter my scalp really decided that it hated me, so I was on the hunt for a good shampoo to deal with scalp issues. This actually worked really well in dealing with my scalp issues, but I didn't love how it left my hair feeling, so I probably won't repurchase.
7. OGX Hydrate + Defrizz Kukui Oil Conditioner
This is my Holy Grail drugstore conditioner at the moment. It smells amazing, it leaves my hair silky and soft without weighing it down or leaving residue. I literally tell everyone I talk to about hair products that they HAVE TO try this product. And so do you.
8. Goldwell Dualsenses Color Shampoo & Conditioner
I got this duo in my stocking from my Dad and Stepmom this year and it was pretty good. I really liked using this when I first dyed my hair red at the end of the winter because it really did a good job of protecting my colour, but overall I don't think I would repurchase it just because it's salon priced and I have products that I like better.
9. COLAB Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo in London Classic
LOVE. You may recall that this was in my monthly favorites for April and clearly I used the crap out of it. I've moved onto the RIO scent, which is the tropical offering from COLAB and I really like it, but this formula across the board so far has really impressed me. Get some, seriously. (Not the Extreme Volume version, though, unless you like your hair to feel dirty.)
10. L'Oreal Power Moisture Moisture Infusion Mask
I've said before that I really like the hair masks from L'Oreal and this is one of my favorites. I've been through a few of these and I always seem to have one on the go. This is one that you need to let sit on your hair (unlike the Instant Miracle one) but it's worth it.
11. John Freida Luxurious Volume Shampoo, Conditioner, & Treatment Samples
I don't remember when or how I got these, but I decided to try them out and they were just okay for me. I felt like they left residue on my hair and didn't give me as much volume as I might have liked. I would probably be willing to try the treatment again, though, to see how it worked after more than one foil sample use.
12. NIVEA Smooth Replenishing Hand Cream x2
I mentioned this hand cream in my February Favorites post and I mentioned that Nivea makes my favorite hand creams. I grabbed this smaller sample sizes when Target was liquidating and I kept one on the table next to the couch and one in my purse, which is why I flew threw them. I have a full size tube of this on my desk at work as well. Can you tell I love it?
13. Sally Hansen Strengthening Fast & Gentle Nail Polish Remover
I think I liked this nail polish remover because I didn't find it quite as drying as some of the other nail polish removers I've tried. I don't necessarily think it did anything to strengthen my nails, but it also didn't make them really brittle with frequent polish changes. I would repurchase.
14. JULEP Mint Condition Foot Cream
This is my favorite foot cream in the winter, for sure. I like to use this before bed or when I'm just hanging around the house so I can whack on a good layer of it and let it really do its thing. I will definitely repurchase this in the future.
15. a;t Fox Moisturizing Gel Cream Gyloopy Tea
Admittedly, I don't really remember how I felt about this product. I received it in the same Memebox as the Muddy Girl pack and I've never seen it for sale anywhere and I don't remember feeling here nor there about it, so I won't repurchase.
16. Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist
I really, really like this mist. It has a really clean green tea scent and I feel like it's great to refresh my skin throughout the day. I've been using some other mists that I like equally or more than this, though, so I won't go out of my way to repurchase it from Korea.
17. Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Oil Free Foundation in 115
I previously reviewed this product and loved it, and I continue to love it and have repurchased. This foundation is absolutely the best at this price point, as far as I'm concerned, and I think I will continue to repurchase in the future.
18. NUDE Skincare Perfect Cleansing Oil for Face & Eyes
I really liked this cleansing oil a lot. This is definitely one that you have to remove with a hot cloth, because otherwise it can leave a bit of residue on the skin, but it gets the job done really, really well. I've had good luck with NUDE Skincare products and I'm eager to try more. This is a little spendier than I might like for a cleansing oil, but I would try it again.
19. a;t Fox Whitening Capsule Cream Jasoyup Herb Tea
Like the other a;t Fox product above, I don't really remember using this. However, I didn't actually finish it either. This product separated in the little jar and became a disgusting mess. I definitely will not repurchase. But isn't the packaging insanely cute?
20. JASON Powersmile Whitening Toothpaste
I wasn't going to include this, since it's not technically a beauty favorite, but I really felt like I had to. My boyfriend and I have been striving to go natural with certain products and toothpaste is one of them. Like deodorant, it can be hard to find a natural toothpaste that works as well as it's typical chemical based coutnerparts, but I think I found it in this one. It really gets my teeth clean and helps to whiten my coffee-drinker's smile. It has already been repurchased and I think I'm going to stick with it. If you're in the market for a natural, whitening toothpaste I highly recommend trying this one out.
21. LUSH Ponche Shower Gel
This was limited edition and it's really old. Like gross old. As you can see, there's still some product in the bottle, but there's no way I'm going to use it at this age. I remember liking it though. It smelled good and fresh and if they release it again I'd probably buy another one - and try to use it more promptly.
So, there you have it... While 21 things may not seem like a lot when you think about the number, that's a hell of a lot of trash to have sitting in a bag waiting to be photographed and reviewed. Also, even when I'm actively trying to use things up, I rarely finish more than 10 products in any given month. Hence, EXTRAVAGANZA!!
Thanks for reading, especially if you've gotten this far! Have you tried any of these products listed here?
