MONTHLY FAVORITES: July 2015
July was a bit of a crazy month, I have to admit. I feel like everything went really quickly and there were definitely some struggles. There were also really great things, like getting to meet a group of the gorgeous women from the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network while I was in Toronto. When it comes to Favorites posts, I try not to think too hard about it. I go with my gut. Sometimes I'll put things aside long before I'm putting together the post or make notes to myself, but overall this is a really instinctual process for me. Anyway, these are the things that I reached for constantly during the month of July, a lot of them brand new to my collection and very exciting finds! For me, the past month has been all about base products on my face and I've been going for a very glowy, sunkissed look to the skin with prepped brows and much less attention to what's happening on my eyelids, which explains a lot of these favorites! Anyway, no more ado!
Keep reading to take a look at the products I've been loving most of all!
L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil
This was a gift that I received this month, and anyone who has been reading this blog a while knows that this is the absolute perfect gift for me! The shower oil is gorgeous, it both feels and smells amazing and I've been using it in pretty much every shower since I've been home from my trip. If you haven't checked it out, you absolutely need to smell the Almond scented products from L'Occitane, because they're just beautiful.
Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs
So I had this wedding to go to and I was wearing a dress that hit above my knees... I hate my knees. I hate them. I've hated them since I was young and I hate them now. I hate showing them off. So anyway, I grabbed this because I'd heard good things about it and I am officially a convert. This product just gives a really lovely look to the skin on your legs. It has some shimmer in it, which you'll really only notice when it's close up, which manages to easily camouflage any imperfections without the need for pantyhose. This will definitely be a special occasion product for me, but I think it'll be a staple.
THEFACESHOP Chia Seed Soothing Mist Toner
If you read my review, you already know that I'm pretty much in love with this toner mist. I don't really know how much more I can say about this. It has a beautiful, light scent to it that reminds me of a spa, the fine mist feels really light and refreshing on the skin, and I feel like this does help to boost the moisture and softness of my skin. It's lovely. If you get the chance, I recommend trying it!
Freedom Makeup London Pro Contour Kit (Review)
If you read any of my What I Wore This Week posts this month, you already know how much I've been wearing this. I feel like this just makes contouring incredibly easy for me and I love that about it. As the month wore on, I definitely did more all over bronzing than contouring, but I have a feeling this product is going to go back to getting a ton of play come fall.
Bourjois Health Mix Serum Foundation
Why did it take me so long to try this??? I've been hearing amazing things about this foundation all over the online beauty community for ages and I hadn't ever picked it up until this month and now I'm completely in love. It's a light to medium, buildable coverage with a light fruity scent and a dewy/natural finish. And it's good, you guys. It's really good. If you can find a shade that fits you in the limited selection, I suggest trying it out!
NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder
I picked this up really randomly and I can't even remember why. I feel like I had seen good things about this powder and at under $5, it's a complete steal so I tried it. And I really like it a lot for the price point. I use a very small amount of this to set my face makeup and I feel like it gives a really good base without looking overly powedery or caking up. It also doesn't make me look super matte, which I love in a summer powder.
Hard Candy Glow All The Way Bronzer & Highlighter Duos
I meant to write a review post about these products, but things just got away from me. Short Version: Go get these while you still can. Seriously. These are just so pretty! As you can see, they do kick up a little bit of powder in the pan, but I don't find them powdery on the face at all. I also don't find them overly shimmery or glittery, but instead kind of glowy. I'm not going to call these a dupe, because they're not, but they're definitely the closest thing I've been able to find at a drugstore price to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. I tried swatching them side by side with my Ambient Lighting Palette and, while there were no exact shade dupes, they actually did give a similar finish to the skin. These aren't as finely milled, but they're definitely not chunky. Also, they're still available but they are limited edition, so get 'em while you can!
NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Flutter Kiss (Review)
I just love this lipstick, you guys. This is a lipstick that you don't have to think too hard about. It's neutral, so it can pretty much be paired with anything. It's mid-toned so it's wearable for most every occasion. And it's comfortable and hydrating, so it feels great on the lips. Perfect drugstore lipstick? Just might be!
NYC Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe & Ash Brown (Review)
This is another product this month that I've pretty much used every day. I can remember maybe 2 or 3 days in all of July when I used a different pencil to fill my brows in, that's how much I'm enjoying this. Like I said in my review, it doesn't quite reach the high standards of my ABH Brow Wiz, but it's the closest thing at a price point where I can justify going through it like it's made of free. Know what I mean? Loving it.
Thanks for reading! Check back tomorrow to see my Product Empties for July!
