UNBOXING: Ipsy Glambag August 2015
So, this post is a little late this month... But that's because my bag was a lot late this month. As in I literally just got it this morning after checking my tracking info for 2 weeks straight until I finally saw it actually do something on the weekend. Needless to say, I was kinda annoyed because I was really excited about this bag and I was beginning to think it was never going to get here. BUT IT'S HERE, YAY! And I'm actually really happy with this bag overall. In fact, I can honestly say that there isn't a single dud product in here for me - and that's a rarity with any subscription service.
So now that I've gotten my whining about slow shipping out of the way, keep reading to take a look at what I got in my bag this month!
Trust Fund Beauty Le Vernis in Elegantly Wasted
15ml Full Size - Value $15
So, I've already applied this to one of my nails and it looks GREAT! This is a really pretty mid-toned purple shade with a grey base, which happens to be one of my favorite types of colours to wear all year around. I like the formula, which is quite thin but levels fairly well. I managed to get full opacity in 2 coats and it dried quite quickly. What more could you ask for?
Marc Anthony Nourishing Oil Of Morocco Treatment
0.7oz Deluxe Sample - Value $1.50
Oddly enough, my stepmom gave me a bottle of this a couple of weeks ago and I found that I really like it. It's a nice, light oil that doesn't weigh my hair down or make it look greasy, which is highly important in my book. It also smells AMAZING. I went back and forth on whether I liked getting something that I could pick up affordably at the drugstore, but ultimately decided that I'm into it because it means it's easy to get my hands on if I like the product. Not the most valuable sample, but a good one all the same I think.
Noyah All Natural Lipstick in Desert Rose
1.4g Deluxe Sample - Value $5.60
This shade is described as being a semi-matte, subtle dirty-pink shade and I'd say that's pretty accurate. The shade isn't my favorite because I don't feel like pale pink shades look particularly good on me, but the formula is really nice. It's a very smooth, creamy consistency that applies to the lips easily and with full opacity. It feels incredibly comfortable on the lips and I could definitely see myself trying out a couple of different shades in this formula in the future.
Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Lip & Eye Pencil in 18 - Wine
Full Size - Value $12.00
I wasn't really sure what kind of shade I was going to get, since this is meant to be for both lips and eyes, and I definitely don't think I'll be using this deep, rich berry shade for anything other than fall lips. That said, this is a gorgeous pencil, very creamy in texture and rich in pigment, and the shade will be perfect for those deep fall lips that I'm already craving. Are we there yet?
Marsk Pro Line Eyeshadow Brush
Full Size - Value $26.00
First of all... This brush is not worth $26. Don't get me wrong, it's a sturdy, well made brush but at the end of the day it's a flat shader brush without anything really special about it. I would never pay full price for this. Still, I'm happy to have gotten it because I love getting brushes in my subscription bags and I know it'll get use in my collection pretty consistently. Can't complain even a little about this.
Total Value: $60.10
Like I said at the beginning of the post, I'm very happy with this bag and all of its contents. I've been quite happy with Ipsy for the past few months now and am happy to keep up with the subscription even though the exchange rate is making this bag a heck of a lot more expensive than it used to be. I know this has been a problem for some people recently and I certainly can't fault anyone for cancelling because it's just not worth it to them anymore.
OFRA Eyeshadow & Highlighter in Bliss
Full Size Product - Value $15
I'm so glad that I picked this up! I had been hoarding my points - since usually the things I would have liked to spend them on are sold out before I even get a chance to see them - so I had some to spend and I didn't want them to expire before I could. This is actually a really pretty shadow. In the pan, it looks like a sort of typical champagne shade, but when swatched it looks a little deeper and more like a rose gold. I can't wait to get this on my eyes and see how it performs.
So there you have it... A little later than usual, but still here.
If you're interested in signing up for Ipsy, it costs $10USD a month (with an added $4.95USD to ship to Canada) and you will receive 4 sample or full size beauty products in a unique cosmetic bag every month. Like I said above, the exchange rate is definitely making it a little more expensive for Canadians at the moment, but I still personally find it worth it.
Thanks for reading! Ipsy spoilers for September should be up late next week!
