MONTHLY EMPTIES: May 2016
First off, guys, I wanna apologize for being a little more lax in my posting schedule than I usually am. I'm struggling a little bit with inspiration and I'm planning on making a few changes and bringing some cool new features and ideas to the blog in the near future. I'm still here, though! And as ever, I've got some products I used up over the past month to share with you guys. It hasn't been a huge month for empties, I must admit, but there's a few products in here that are favorites of mine - and a lot of samples of products that I'd never tried before!
So without further adieu....
The Body Shop Ginger Scale Care Shampoo
This is a winter must have for me and though I'm not going to repurchase right away because I really don't need it in the summer, this will without question be repurchased in the fall as soon as it starts to get cold and dry here on the prairies. I like to use this shampoo about once every 1-2 weeks during the colder months because I feel like it does a good job of keeping my scalp from getting too dry and uncomfortable. If you've never tried this product out and you struggle with dry scalp, I definitely highly recommend giving it a go!
TOCCA Green Tea & Lemon Nourishing Body Scrub
I received this in a Birchbox ages ago and I didn't really think I was going to like it, but I actually ended up LOVING IT. I loved the scent, which was very fresh and bright, as well as the texture of the scrub itself and how it left my skin feeling. I don't know if I'll run out and pick this up anytime soon, but I would definitely use it again if the opportunity came up.
JULEP Dry Clean Invisible Dry Shampoo
Meh. I didn't like this. I don't think it did a very good job of actually soaking up the oils in my hair to give it the illusion of being clean, and it also felt quite wet and heavy to me when I sprayed it in the hair. I've actually had this for a looooooong time, but because I didn't really like it I was just reaching for my CoLab instead. Definitely no repurchase for this one.
L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
This is a funny one for me, because I'm very polar on it. During the colder months when my skin gets dry, I can't wear this. It ends up looking terrible and feeling uncomfortable on me. However, in the warmer months this is an absolute must have for me. I love the finish, I love the wear time, and I love that it doesn't feel heavy or cakey on my summer skin. So, even though it will get tucked away for the winter, this will definitely get a repurchase.
Clarins Super Restorative Serum
I think I got this sample at Shopper's Drug Mart and I fell in love with the product a little bit. Obviously because it's a sample, I couldn't use it long enough to see ultimately how the results could be, while I was using it my skin looked and felt absolutely amazing. I've actually been trying out quite a few things from Clarins recently and I'm really impressed. This is a spendy serum, though, so I'm not 100% sure I will repurchase, but I will definitely keep thinking about it.
Clarins Fix Make-Up Setting Spray
This sample is sooooo teeny that I only got 2 or 3 uses out of it, but I really liked it while I used it. I'm not the biggest fan of rose, and this definitely has a rose scent, but this wasn't too overwhelming as I was applying and I really didn't feel like it lingered on the skin. I think this did a good job of setting the finish of my makeup and taking down the powderiness, though I can't really remember if it actually prolonged the wear at all. Either way, I want a bottle of this and I suspect I'm going to buy one.
Benefit Air Patrol Eyeshadow Primer Sample
I actually really, really liked this primer the 2 times I was able to use it. I feel like it based my lids really well and kept my eyeshadow looking fresh without fading or creasing for the entire day. Once I work through some of the other primers I have in my collection currently, I have a feeling I'll be picking this up.
REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot
Honestly, I finished this up at the very beginning of the month, so I can't give you details on how I felt about it, but I do remember that I enjoyed using it and felt like it made my skin look good. That said, since it didn't blow me away and leave an impression, I'm unlikely to pick up a full size.
Global Beauty Care Retinol Spa Treatment Mask
I feel like these are in my empties every month. But I like them quite a bit and they're really affordable, so I suspect I'll just keep buying them!
Simple Micellar Make-Up Remover Wipes
These were a HUGE winner for me. The cloth itself is soft and doesn't scratch my skin, the micellar water really does a good job of removing the makeup, and they're really gentle to my sensitive skin. I mean, what more could I ask for? I think these might be tied with my much loved Cetaphil Cleansing Cloths now and I have no doubt that I'll repurchase.
AMOREPACIFIC Time Response Targeted Eye Masque
These are LUXURIOUS. They're spendy, but they feel amazing on the undereyes and I swear I didn't want to take them off when the time was up. They're cooling and nourishing and I really do feel like they did a good job of improving the look and feel of the skin under my eyes, brightening and making me look less tired. I have a few more of these that I'm hoarding for days when I really need a little pampering and I absolutely love them. Not sure about a repurchase because of the price - but I would love to be able to!
This was a pretty little empties post this month, I know, but I feel like there are some good ones in here. Also, if you guys can get a sample of either of the Clarins products that I mentioned above at your local stores, I highly recommend trying them out. Clarins is killing it for me right now!
Thanks for reading and come back tomorrow for my favorites!
