SUBSCRIPTION: Ipsy Glam Bag June 2016
So my Ipsy bag arrived yesterday and, as usual, I was really eager to actually try out the products and see how I feel about them. One of the products in here is one that I've actually gotten before - I believe it was in a Birchbox - so I haven't busted it out, but I did try what I could when I did my makeup this morning so along with letting you know what I got and the overall value of my bag, I have some little first impressions for you guys!
So without further adieu, check out my Ipsy bag!
The theme for this month's bag was Rebel Rebel."Misfits. Rulebreakers. Badass babes. The riot starts this June. We're hitting the streets with serious sizze and signature looks. Coloring outside the lines is encouraged. Sitting on the sidelines is not."
I actually do like the theme and I love that they did a bad designed by a female street artist, because I really do feel like that fits with the theme. However, the products I received are mostly not particularly rebellious, but I don't think I mind that so much. Would have liked to have seen everyone get a bad ass red lipstick or something though!
Urban Decay Fireball Eyeshadow
0.03oz. Sample Size - Value $13CAD
Even though this pan looks pretty tiny, it's actually about 2/3 of a full size, so I definitely think it's a good size for an eyeshadow sample. I actually really, really love this shade. Because I'm not much of an all over pink kind of girl, I used this today patted on top of a warm taupey purple shade and it took what's a pretty every day kind of look for me to a really unique place with a nice iridescent finish. In the pan, this might look a little plain, but it has a really pretty duochrome finish with a nice sheen. I also really like the formula, because it's smooth and pigmented beautifully. I was really hoping that this was the shadow single that I would get - and I'm really glad that it was.
Japonesque Solid Brush Cleanser
14g Sample - Value $4CAD
I was actually really excited about this - doubly excited now that I washed all my brushes the other day and used up basically an entire tub of solid brush cleanser. This smells really good and reminds me of a brush cleanser I've used in the past. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm looking forward to it and hoping that I like it - because I really like the price point and I know I can get my hands on it in Canada!
Seraphine Botanicals Happy Hibiscus Blush
2g Full Size - Value $22CAD
I was surprised when I found out that this little blush is actually full size, but I checked the Seraphine Botanicals website and the full size is listed at the same volume as this one. Tiny for a blush! However, it's really pretty. I would describe the shade as somewhere between a rose and an apricot that gives a really natural look to the skin. It does have some shimmers in it, which isn't my preference, but does look nice on the skin and has a nice sheen to it. Even though I'm not in love with this blush, I'm an absolute blush junkie and there's no way I was going to be mad at this one.
Doucce Boombastic Lash Volumizing Mascara
Deluxe Sample - Value $12CAD (Approx.)
The first thing that struck me about this mascara is that the wand is ENORMOUS. I swear, this is going to be unusable for people with really small eyes, but I did manage to make it work when I applied it this morning. I just had to be careful. While I don't think this actually gives me "boombastic" volume, I think it's a decent mascara and it's very, very richly black which I love. I absolutely can't give even a decent first impression of a mascara with just one use, I admit, but I'm going to keep using this and working with it and see how it goes for me. So far, it's just fine though.
12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment
1.5oz Sample Size - Value $7CAD
This
is the product that I've gotten in the past and I do like it, but I
would have liked to have gotten something else because this really isn't
a big favorite for me or anything. I think maybe I'll give it another
good try now that I've got two and see if I fall a little bit more in
love with it, because it does have really, really good reviews
everywhere I've look. It's possible that I'm just not much of a hair
product person. So yeah. This is fine. It's a good product. I'll
probably use it.
Total Value: $58CAD
So... Would I pay $58 for these? Nope. I wouldn't. But I'm definitely good with having paid about $20CAD when all was said and done with shipping and the exchange rate. I think these are all products worth trying out and none of them have disappointed me. I don't think they really live up to the Rebel theme of the bag, but that's fine with me because I don't really think I'm much of a makeup rebel to begin with.
