SUBSCRIPTION: Julep Maven October 2016 Unboxing
It's been a long time since I've gotten a Julep Maven box, I admit. I've been skipping almost every month because I just can't justify the expense and I'm just not as into nails as I was when I originally signed up. Because of this, I decided I was going to cancel my subscription after just one more box. I mean, I had Jules to spend and it seemed silly not to go out with a box, right? Also, there were a couple of things that I'd been wanting to try as well as one product that is a long time favorite of mine that I wanted another bottle of before I left Julep for keeps.
Wanna see what I picked in my 100% customized Julep box? Keep reading!
I miss the quote cards, but this was a really great quote that I really liked. I hate the idea that someone can't wear something that they like or do their makeup any way they like because of some arbitrary reason that disqualifies them, so this quote feels empowering to me in that way and I wanted to include it in this post!
JULEP Love Your Bare Face Hydrating Cleansing Oil
A lightweight, antioxidant-rich oil blend that melts away makeup and
impurities without stripping your skin. This Korean skincare secret is
formulated for all skin types.
This is actually one of the first cleansing oils that I tried, back when Shu Uemura basically had the market cornered on cleansing oils and they weren't available everywhere you looked. I pretty much fell in love with oil cleansing and have used it as a part of a double cleanse routine ever since. This is the product that I definitely wanted one more bottle of before I ended my Maven subscription, because I loved it so much and had been wanting to go back to it for a while. I think this is a great first foray into Julep skin care products and also a great first cleansing oil, because it works absolutely beautifully.
JULEP What Your Skin Needs Restorative Facial Milk
This ultra-lightweight facial moisturizer is a high-tech blend of five
skin-boosting oils that quickly absorb into your skin to treat, hydrate,
and replenish. Gentle enough for all skin types, including sensitive
skin.
I actually picked this up because it was something I'd been wanting to try, but I skipped the month that it was released because I was trying to curb my spending. I actually absolutely love a facial milk for the wintertime when I find that my skin needs a little bit more nourishment and so I grabbed this to give it a try. I haven't tried it on my face as of yet, but on the back of my hand it feels really hydrating and silky to the touch, just the way I want a facial milk to be, so I have high hopes for this one!
JULEP Rethink Your Shower Hydrating Body Cleansing Oil
This is another thing that I had never tried but seemed timely, since my body also needs extra hydration in the winter months and I've found that a shower oil works really well with my skin type and this seemed like a really affordable option - even if I hadn't have gotten it free with Jules. Anyway, I've only used this once so far and I think I like it. It felt really light and had a fresh, bright scent that wasn't too overwhelming but did give me a little pick me up. I'm holding off judgement until I use it a few more times, but my first impression of this product is quite good!
JULEP Nail Color in Ebony and Desiree
Ebony was the shade I chose for my box this month, and actually what inspired me to finally get a box this month because it's so gorgeous. I mean, how could I be expected to resist a gunmetal holographic polish? I really couldn't, because this was right up my alley, and I'm a little bit in love with it. It applies really beautifully, but it does take a while to set. In flat light, it kind of ends up looking like a really deep teal shimmer with subtle holo, but in natural or bright light it is absolutely stunning. STUNNING.
Desiree is a high shine holographic top coat that was included in everyone's boxes this month and was actually completely news to me since I didn't know it was coming. This is a clear base with really fine holographic glitters in it. For me, this doesn't pack nearly as much punch as I was hoping, but it does give a really nice shine and the subtle holo looks kind of pretty.
Honestly, I think this is one of the Maven boxes that I've been the most excited about and happy with - and the first one that I ever completely customized for myself, and it a little bit makes me want to stay with Julep and see what else they have on the horizon. They're consistently bringing out new products and... I mean, I struggle to resist new products at the best of times!
Interested in joining Julep? They're running a promotion right now for new members that when you sign up and subscribe, you get a free gift worth $150! Looks like 3 polishes, a lip gloss, a lipstick, an eyeliner, and a highlighter. Not bad, right? I mean... Really, really not bad! I believe Julep costs $24.99US per month with new collections of nail polish, skin care, and makeup that you can customize!
Thanks for reading!
