REVIEW: The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

by - July 27, 2017

Sometimes I think that the products from The Ordinary can be a little bit confusing for those of us who aren't entirely familiar with all of the ingredients that they sell. Personally, I actually like that because it forces me to look into the ingredients and see if they might be a good fit for my skin type, but I know that it could definitely be confusing for people who aren't really interested in going that deep with it. That's actually why I decided to do this review - because of all of the products, I feel like The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA might be the most confusing for people.

So to put this in the most simple terms - This is a moisturizer. Natural Moisturizing Factors are elements that occur naturally in the skin, such as amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, saccharides, sodium PCA, and hyaluronic acid, that work to keep the skin hydrated and protected. This isn't a moisturizer that's going to provide antioxidants or anti-aging ingredients, it's simply a product that's intended to protect and hydrate the skin using the same substances that naturally do that for your skin. Make sense? As far as the ingredients are concerned, I think this is a great formula, but not going to be a particularly transformative product.

Now for my thoughts on performance. I feel very much two ways about this. I definitely think that it works the way that it claims. It has a lightweight feel to apply and when I use it, my skin is hydrated without being overwhelmed. Unfortunately, I just really don't like the way this feels on my skin. It's actually hard to explain, but after this sets I feel like there's a kind of film over my skin that just doesn't feel like it has completely absorbed. I've seen it described as feeling "sweaty" and, while I don't think I would have thought of that, I can definitely see where it's coming from.

Overall, I have to say that this definitely isn't my favorite product from The Ordinary, but I do think it has its place and I know that there are definitely people who will enjoy this. I'm just a little bit too sensitive to the feel of it on my skin to want to repurchase. That being said, I think this is a really unique product and at $5.80, it definitely worth trying out if the idea of it appeals to you.
