REVIEW: Love Beauty And Planet Tea Tree & Vetiver

by - April 05, 2018

I have to admit that I'm kind of the target market when it comes to new products. What I mean by this is that a new line in the drugstore with cute packaging always sucks me in, so clearly I'm always super excited to try them out. Recently, you may have seen a new brand called Love Beauty And Planet popping up in mass retailers in the past few months - I know I have, and I was definitely curious. Thanks to Chickadvisor, I was able to try out a few products from the Love Beauty And Planet Tea Tree & Vetiver* range including shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

So... One of my first questions about this brand was whether the "Planet" part of the name was genuine or marketing, so I made sure to check out their website and I was overwhelmingly impressed that they seem to stand behind a commitment to be an environmentally friendly company. I feel like there are so many environmentally conscious things that the brand does that I don't know where to start. Be warned, this might feel a little bit like dictation, but I feel like it's important to share.

First, all of their products are vegan and cruelty free - sometimes a difficult thing to find at an afforable price. Second, the bottles are made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic. Above and beyond that, aside from the cap (which they're working on), the bottles are 100% recycleable and use an easy remove adhesive on the labels to make the recycling process easier. Third, the conditioners employ a fast rinse technology to allow you to use less water than some heavier conditioners that can be hard to remove from your hair.

Finally, and perhaps most impressive to me, is their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint. Not only are they committed to transparency about their carbon emissions through production and distribution of their products, but they also self-impose a carbon "tax" on themselves by donating $40 per carbon ton to a Carbon Tax Fund that supports programs that help to lower carbon emissions and landfill waste. Pretty rad, right? When reading about this brand's commitment to the environment, I was seriously impressed and intend to support them with my dollar because I feel like these issues are genuinely important.

Now... Onto the products!

Love Beauty And Planet Tea Tree & Vetiver Daily Detox Body Wash*
It’s like a juice cleanse for your skin. Infused with Australian tea tree oil and earthy Haitian vetiver, Love Beauty & Planet Daily Detox Body Wash is a purifying cleanse that perfectly purifies and renews your skin.

You know those mornings when you just can't? Maybe you were up too late or were restless, maybe you had too much to drink or you're getting sick. Those slugging mornings are the worst, but I think I might have found the remedy for them in this body wash. The Tea Tree & Vetiver scent is immediately refreshing and gives an instant perk up. Initially, I thought I'd be passing this body wash along to my boyfriend after I finished testing it, but I fell so in love with the smell of it when I was in the shower that I'm holding on it. It has a really good lather that stayed foamy in my shower puff long enough to clean my entire body. It rinses really easily and left my skin feeling soft and clean without any dryness or stripping. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

Love Beauty And Planet  Tea Tree & Vetiver Radical Refresher Shampoo & Conditioner*
I'm going to admit straight out of the gate that I went into trying this pair with low expectations. I'm not entirely sure why, but it could have been that I associated the scent with something that I haven't liked in the past. I'm willing to admit that I was wrong. The shampoo, which promises to revitalize and refresh lackluster hair, did a really good job of getting in there and giving my hair a solid cleanse. Admittedly, I hate washing my hair so I'm generally a third or fourth day wash kind of a girl and I need something that's really, really going to clean my hair, and this absolutely did that and didn't leave my hair a dry, tangled mess when I rinsed. It gave a really good lather, worked into the hair easily, and rinsed fairly quickly. It did definitely require conditioner though - obviously.

Next, the conditioner promises rich conditioning to revitalize hair's natural strength. I don't know about the natural strength part, but it definitely did richly condition my hair in a way that I actually find difficult to describe. Generally, when I use a really strong conditioner, it leaves my hair feeling heavy with a residue that I just can't seem to rinse out no matter how hard I try. This conditioner intially had me thinking that was going to be case when I first ran my fingers through it when it was about half dry, but once it was fully dry I found that it did feel pretty intensely moisturized, but there really was none of that residue.

When using this pair together, I find that my hair is really clean and hydrated without residue and my hair looks really shiny, feels really soft, and has a surprising amount of volume. I'm definitely 100% willing to admit that my initial misgivings were totally unfounded and this pair works amazingly well for my hair type and needs.

I feel like I really didn't expect this review to be the rave that it has been, but I'm just so solidly impressed with all three of these products and with the company itself. I feel like when I was younger, you could certainly get environmentally friendly products but they tended to be quite expensive and less effective. That really just isn't the case anymore. If you're interested in good-for-the-enviroment products, I highly recommend taking a look at Love Beauty & Planet. Personally, I'm really, really hoping that their dry shampoo becomes available here in Canada soon, because I'm dying to get my hands on it!

Love Beauty And Planet products are widely available now at mass market retailers and online!
