REVIEW: CLEAN Ultimate Beach Night Eau De Toilette
You might remember that around this time last year, I posted a review of CLEAN Ultimate Beach Day*, which I really, really loved and reached for a lot last summer for it's fresh, bright scent. So of course this year I was super excited when I found out that the brand was release the companion CLEAN Ultimate Beach Night Eau De Toilette* and couldn't wait to try it out. CLEAN is one of those brands that, for me, creates fragrances that not only smell really great but also capture exactly what they say they're going to capture - a feeling as much as a fragrance, which I personally love.

- Top Notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Orange, Ocean Mist
- Middle Notes: Night Blooming Jasmine, Tuberose, Lilac Blossom, Lavender, Neroli, Violet Leaf, Bougainvillea
- Dry Notes: Ambergris, White Musk, Burnt Smoky Driftwood
Like its sister fragrance, Ultimate Beach Night* surprised me a little bit when I first smelled it. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting, but I don't really think it was this. When first applied, I do definitely get those strong citrus notes that feel really fresh and summery to me, but as it dries down I really get more of the florals and the fragrance becomes more complex to me. Once dry, I feel like that those richer musky and smoky scents definitely give some depth to the scent, but it still maintains a freshness that really feels perfect for summer. I actually really think this was fairly brilliantly formulated (is that the right word for making a fragrance?) to really capture the feeling of being in nature on a summer night with a combination of richness and freshness that works really well together.
As always with FRESH fragrances, this one performs really well for me. The lasting power is quite good, particularly for an eau de toilette, and I find that I can certainly get through an entire long evening and still find lingering scent at my wrists at the end of the night. That balance between lasting a long time but not being too overwhelming upon application is super important to me and I think this one does that quite beautifully.
Aren't the opposite bottles of this fragrance gorgeous? I love the thoughtfulness of them!
Because I do have both Ultimate Beach Day and Night, I wanted to compare the two. I feel like these two scents are similar enough that they invoke similar feelings, but different enough that they've captured their differences as well. Both start with citrus notes and move into a bright floral with more musky notes at the end, but they are still distinctly different. For me, Ultimate Beach Day is a much brighter scent while Ultimate Beach Night is a little bit sexier, which really makes sense when we're talking about the difference between day and night, if you ask me. I actually struggle to choose a favorite between the two of them, because both really work well for me. I actually also like the idea that because they do have very similar vibes, I could layer them or wear them both on the same day at different times without having to worry about them clashing or competing.
As usual, CLEAN has really impressed me with Ultimate Beach Night* and I know I'm going to be reaching for this a lot over the coming months. I really change up my fragrances based on the season and tend to have a lot more warm, spicy scents in my collection, so I'm super happy to have these lighter, more fresh scents for summer in my collection as well. If this sounds like a scent that you could be into - or even if it doesn't because florals make you nervous - I definitely recommend getting a nose full of it and seeing how you feel because it's really lovely.
