MANI MONDAY: Glitter Gradient + Geometric Stamping

by - July 08, 2019

Hey guys! With our #CBBxManiMonday theme for July being glitter, I have to admit that I'm a little bit out of my element. When I sat down to put together this week's mani, I had to stare at my collection for a while to get some inspiration - but I guess that's kind of what it's about, right? In the end, I'm super happy with how this mani turned out and have a little bit fallen back in love with a holo glitter base underneath stamping - and am still on a distinct gradient kick!

For a closer look and to see how I got this mani, keep reading!

I started this mani with a generous coat of Unt Ready For Take Off Peel Off Base Coat... because there's no way I'm going to try and remove this much glitter with acetone. Next, I applied one coat of Pahlish Issun-Boshi, since it is the lighter of the two shades for my gradient. For the gradient, I used a makeup sponge to apply three coats of Issun-Boshi along with Girly Bits Blue Ribbon Cankles to get a smooth blend and full opacity. Once the gradient was done, I added a fairly thick coat of OPI Plumping Top Coat to help smooth out some of the texture of the glitter on the nail and let it dry completely.

For the stamping, I wanted it to be really crisp and add some interest without taking away from the (admittedly subtle) look of the gradient. I used the hehe 029 Hufflepuff Stamping Plate for this image along with Maniology Bam White Stamping Polish and just super simply applied the image to all of my nails. Because I wanted to keep it crisp, I added another layer of Unt to seal in my stamping before another coat of OPI Plumping Top Coat to finish. Et voila!

I have to say, I'm finding it really exciting to sort of start really finding my own style in nail art and I'm really loving the way that the themes we're choosing for #CBBxManiMonday are inspiring me to find ways to combine my style to fit them. That's seriously what I love about this.

Be sure to head over to Cosmetic Proof, See The World In PINK, and Tea & Nail Polish to check out what they have on their nails for this week's theme!
