MANI MONDAY: Abstract Dry Brush Nails

by - August 19, 2019

Last week I felt like I was struggling to be inspired by the #SummerNails hashtag on Instagram for our #CBBxManiMonday theme, but this week I could barely choose between all of the beautiful nail art that was inspiring me. Because of that, this mani started out with one plan and then sort of shifted midway to something else entirely... because sometimes that happens? Abstract nail art is definitely having a moment this summer, so I chose some summery colours and employed my dry brush stamping technique for a surprisingly easy and beginner friendly mani!

Because I initally had something else in mind, I actually started out this mani with two coats of Essie Gel Couture in Blush Worthy, which is a peachy pink nude with some pretty gold flakies in it. Once it was dry, I shifted gears slightly and added a coat of China Glaze Get It Right, Get It Bright to shift to this really pretty pale lilax with warm pink shimmer. This was actually when the whole plan changed and I decided to do this more abstract mani.

For the dry brush stamping, I used my NailStuff.ca Clear Stamper* to apply swipes of Color Club Take A Chill Pill, Pucci-Licious, and Modern Pink to vertically at the tip of each nail. I decided I needed a little more contrast, so I grabbed Color Club Peace Out Purple to add a couple of smaller swipes to each nail. Finally, to finish the abstract design, I added the little clusters of black dots using Maniology Straight Up Black Stamping Polish.

Finally, I finished with a generous coat of OPI Plumping Top Coat and voila!

I really, really love the stamped dry brushing technique because it's really versatile and easy for pretty much anyone to get a hang of fairly quickly.
