Hey guys! For today's #12NailsOfHalloween mani, I decided to try out something that... just isn't my forte. When I was looking for inspiration for all of my nail art for this month, I kept seeing these beautiful looks created by professional nail techs of these ghost face mask nails, and I loved them enough to force myself out of my comfort zone and do some hand painted nail art. Trust me, reaching for nail art brushes and doing freehand designs is definitely not my forte... but I think it turned out pretty well, which just underscores that pretty much anyone can recreate this design!

First, I started with the base for all of my nails. I wanted the look to have a really stark, high contrast look so I kept all of the bases black and white. For my middle finger, I applied two coats of essence Shine Last & Go in Black Is Back and for the rest of my nails I applied two coats of Color Club French Tip. 

For the stamping on my middle finger, I used the BeautyBigBang XL-090 along with BornPrettyStore Silver Stamping Polish to create this slash design, and then I used Sinful Colors Raisin The Roof to add a little bloody highlight to the drips coming from the slash. For the blood spatters, I also used Raisin The Roof (not the most opaque for the stamping, but the sort of berry tone of it was definitely what I was looking for) along with the Maniology BM-XL28 Stamping Plate. 

For the ghostface mask, by far the scariest part of this, I went in again with essence Shine Last & Go in Black Is Back along with my NailStuff.ca 7mm Mermaid Tail Nail Brush* to very carefully carve out the mask design using an image of the mask from Scream as my reference for the shape. It was a little bit tricky, but because it's such a simple shape it came out pretty well.

I finished all of my nails with a coat of Sinful Colors Matte Top Coat and voila!

I really really like how this design turned out. The simple color scheme along with the images on each of the nails feels really cohesive and distinctly Halloween-y to me. Now I wanna curl up on my couch and watch all of the Scream movies again. I'm pretty sure they're all on Netflix Canada...
