12 NAILS OF HALLOWEEN: Grungy Freddie Krueger Nails

by - October 09, 2019

For this year's 12 Nails Of Halloween, I'm really trying to stick to my personal style when it comes to putting together the nail art. I'm definitely looking around at other people's manis for inspiration, but I don't want to step outside of what I personally like to both create and to wear. So for today's #12NOH offering, I went with something fairly simple and graphic in a matte finish. While I know that sometimes I can be a little bit of a lot with what I'll throw at my nails, a lot of my favorite mani's are the simple, really graphic ones.

So without further ado, keep reading to check out my Grungy Freddie Krueger Nails!

Now, granted, if I had been completely true to Freddie Krueger, this mani would have been red and olive, but I decided that it was alright to take some liberties and I ended up with this sort of berry and black situation. I think it manages to evoke the inspiration with a little bit more prettiness. I started with two coats of Color Club Ghosted on all of my nails as a base for my stamping.

To get the look that I wanted, I had to go for two different plates and two different stamping polishes. The polishes I used are Maniology Straight Up Black and Bam! White. I could have done the stripes by hand... or at least, if I was any good at hand painting, I could have done them by hand, but because I'm not I went in with stripes from the Nicole Diary-L04 Stamping Plate using my Born Pretty Store Clear Stamper. (This plate is a bit of a must have, in my opinion, and super affordable too!) Next, I switched over to the Nicole Diary-L12 Stamping Plate for the grunge image as well as the slashes on my accent nail.

To finish this look and get that really smooth matte finish, I added a generous coat of Sinful Colors Matte Top Coat and voila!

I feel like the trick to making really simple graphic nail art look good is to keep everything crisp and I'm really happy with how this one turned out. Not entirely bang on to the source inspiration, but a little bit of my take on it, which is exactly what I was going for.

Stay tuned to the blog every few days for all of October to see all twelve of my 12 Nails Of Halloween nail art designs!
