MANI MONDAY: Pink Tie Dye Nails

by - February 24, 2020

I have to admit, guys, that I'm having a bit of an inspiration drought at the moment and I'm a liiiiiittle bit late on my Mani Monday this week because... the weekend took a turn. Anyway, I have been kind of inspired lately by mani's that I see from professional nail techs that sort of break up the mani into 4 distinctly different nails that still have a consistency through them, and that's where I took my inspiration for this week's Pink & Red themed mani - I like to think of the shades I used in this as somewhere at the crossroads of pink and red.

Anyway, keep reading for a closer look!

For this mani, I really wanted to do a Sunburst Smoosh on two of the nails, click here for a little more of a tutorial on that technique. For the smoosh nails, I started with a coat of OPI Hue Is The Artist?* from their Mexico City Collection as my base. For the smoosh, I did my bullseye using my base color along with Color Club's Ghosted and Miss Bliss, along with a sort of pinky nude polish from LA Colors that I just randomly grabbed for. I smooshed those using my NailStuff Clear Stamper* (use affiliate code TRYSH for 10% off at NailStuff.ca) and left those to dry on my nail art mat.

For my first finger, I applied two coats of Color Club Ghosted, which is a sort of muted berry créme shade that I absolutely love. And for my ring finger, I decided I wanted to go with a fairly similar tone but in a strong shimmer, so I used Color Club Slay The Day, which is a matte glitter shade that dries textured.

Once my decals were dry enough to transfer (but not too dry), I applied a coat of Chen Xi Star Glue to my middle and pinkie fingers and moved the decal to my stamper while the glue dried. Once it was dry and tacky, I used my stamper to position and transfer the decals to my nails. I used a cuticle tool to trim the excess and a clean up brush dipped in acetone to get the edges nice and crisp and melted into the base.

Finally, as usual, I finished with a coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat on all of my nails.

I'm actually really kind of loving this every nail is different kind of look, especially breaking up the more busy nail art with solid polished nails between them. Because I usually apply the more intricate designs to my two middle nails, this is a bit of a change for me, but I think it's one that I'll probably adopt. Also, I'm hoping that I might have a bit of a jumpstart on my inspiration with next month's Blue & Green #CBBxManiMonday theme!

Speaking of, be sure to head over to Cosmetic Proof and See The World In PINK to check out their #CBBxManiMonday pink and red themed nail art this week!

Thanks for reading!
