NAIL ART: Juicy Watermelon French Mani

by - July 29, 2020

Probably the very first mani that I wanted to do when I finally got my hands on the WhatsUpNails B008 Summer Seeds Stamping Plate was a full hand of watermelon nails. I've actually always wanted to try out this sort of nail art look, but anyone who reads this blog knows how I feel about hand painting so I was waiting to get my hands on a stamping plate to get the job done for me - and I have!

Keep reading for more!

While I was getting ready to do this mani, you would really not believe the state of my desk as I tried to choose the best pink. Did I want a rich pink? A soft pink? A really bright pink? I literally tried probably 20 different pink polishes before settling on JULEP's Caitlin. It's the one that just popped the most for me. In general, it's a pretty warm, coral toned pink with a soft gold shimmer throughout it and it just felt like it worked for watermelon so I applied two coats to all of my nails.

For the stamping, I wanted a lot of contrast with the two greens, so I started with Clear Jelly Stamper Lush Leaf (my go to deep green) and then filled in the image with Avon's Absinthe, which is a shimmery green that just felt like it would give me the contrast I was looking for. I also used white stamping polish to fill in that very thin line in the image as well. Once I had placed the watermelon tip on each nail, I went in with black stamping polish to add the seeds to each nail as well.

I finished with a generous coat of Essie Speed Setter Top Coat and voila! Simple, right?

Does anything say summer more than Watermelon? Admittedly, I'm not even a particularly big fan of eating watermelon, but if it's summer and it's out, I'll put it in my mouth... but I'd rather put it on my nails. To watch my video tutorial on how I did these nails (seriously, they're SO easy) head over to @pblnails and follow me there for more nail art videos!

Admittedly, I've gone a little bit mad with fruit power on my nails recently, but I'm a little bit obsessed with the Whats Up Nails B008 Summer Seeds stamping plate - there's just so many mani options for summer! (There might be one more in the near future....) Anyway, if you're like me and you just can't with hand painting but really want to try some cute fruit nail art, definitely check out this plate because it's fantastic.

Thanks for reading!
