NAIL ART | Pastel Mini Eggs Easter Skittle Mani

by - March 31, 2021

My favorite part of Easter is pretty simple - Cadbury Mini Eggs. In my opinion, they're just a pretty perfect seasonal candy and I never don't enjoy them. I've done Mini Eggs inspired Easter nail art before and I'm sure I'll do it again in a classic speckled skittle fashion, but this year I wanted to do it a little bit differently and add some negative space stamping for a little bit of a different look. I mean... who doesn't like some cute little eggs?

When I was choosing my base colours for this mani, I knew I had to keep them really soft and pastel, so of course I went for the Color Club pastels. I went back and forth a little bit on the colours I wanted to use, but in the end I went for a blue, a sort of periwinkle, a cool toned pink, and a pastel neon yellow. I definitley wanted to get the yellow in there because I always think of yellow when I think of Mini Eggs, but I don't know if it was the best call fopr this particular mani because the white gets lost a little bit on top of it. Still, I like the shades I chose and I applied 2 coats of all of them to my nails for my base.

For the stamping, I wanted to start with a speckled image and I decided to go with grey instead of black so that it wasn't too stark on the nails. I applied the same image to all of my nails, alternating the direction that I placed it on the nails. Next, I went in with the negative space Easter eggs image using a white stamping polish and, again, I alternated the direction of the placement to break up the design a little bit.

Once I was happy with my stamping and had crisped up the edges with a cleanup brush dipped in acetone, I sealed in the design with a water based top coat and then finished with a quick dry matte top coat for that Mini Eggs candy shell finish. And voila!

Can I just underscore how excited I am for pastel nails season? Because, like... really, really excited. If you're in the market for pastel polishes, particularly pastel neons and especially for nail art purposes, I definitely recommend the ones from Color Club. They're by far my favorite and generally the only ones I reach for. If you're here in Canada and interested in checking them out, head over to NailPolishCanada.com - I'm pretty sure they have the largest Color Club selection - including all four of the shades I used in this mani - from a Canadian stockist.
