NAIL ART: Pastel Neon Rainbow Gradient Nails

by - June 04, 2021

I swear, I am so, so excited for summer nail art this year and now that we're into June, the time has arrived. And, of course, with June comes pride month and an excuse to do all kinds of beautiful rainbow nail art in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Definitely expect to see more rainbow themed nails in upcoming weeks. For today's mani, though, I went with some of my favorite pastel neon polishes from Color Club to create this beautiful sort of spectrum mani with some free form wiggly stamping and... I'm kind of obsessed.

During the summer, there is one thing that is always certain when it comes to my nail art and that is that I will be reaching for my Color Club neons and pastel neons quite a lot. For this mani, I kept the choices simple. I started with a white base (which is not a thing that I say very often if ever, if we're being honest) so that I could easily build up my gradient  and get a smooth blend. I decided I wanted the gradient to go at a diagonal, alternating the direction so that it almost ends up looking like a repeating spectrum over the nails. I used a pink, a blue and a yellow polish for this gradient and I think I got a pretty good blend between them to see like there was also green and purple in the mix - as you do. This took 4 passes of sponging to get the opacity that I was looking for, the white base actually ended up working against me in that regard, but I did get a really crisp application and blend of the colors.

For the stamping, I went into this mani knowing that I wanted to use this sort of swirly image from the Pict You PY-J053 Stamping Plate and a white stamping polish, so it was really just about changing up the placement of the image on each of my nails in order to get a unique and varied design for each nail. I alternated the direction of the image and shifted the placement on the diagonal so that each nail looks a little bit different.

Once I was happy with the stamping, I sealed it in with a water based top coat and then finished with a quick dry matte top coat and voila!
