NAIL ART: Summer Watermelon French Nails
I love watermelon nails - they really are a fun summer twist on a French, in my opinion - and I did a very similar mani to this one last year as well but I couldn't resist busting out the design again this summer. I personally really like a twist on a classic French mani because I think it makes the whole vibe a little bit more fun overall, and I think it works really seamlessly with a watermelon design because you have that built in shape.

Recently, Kokie sent along some polishes for me to try out and as soon as I saw the shade Gone Rio, I knew that I wanted to use it as the base for this mani and I knew that I had some other gorgeous Kokie shades that would work really well to fill out the rest of this mani as well. For this base, I applied two coats of Gone Rio to all of my nails and let them dry completely. This base polish was ALMOST opaque in one coat and the application was super easy and smooth - great formula on this one.
For the stamping, I first used a green stamping polish to pick up the rind image and filled it in using a darker grassy green as well as a really soft sort of pastel sage green shade. I wanted to keep everything really seamless and I didn't want too much contrast, so these three shades worked really well together. After transferring the rind images to my nails, I went in with a black stamping polish to add the seeds to all of my nails. I did it in this order because I found that it was easier to get the placement I was looking for if I did the tips first.
Once I was happy with the design, I sealed it in with a water based top coat and finished with a generous layer of a quick dry glossy top coat. And voila!

I've really been super impressed overall with the quality of the Kokie polishes that I've tried, but Gone Rio is a particularly smooth, pigmented and gorgeous polish. Honestly, though, I think the whole range is worth checking out - and extra convenient now that they're sold in store at Sally Beauty. Definitely recommend checking them out. Check out more nails I've done using Kokie polishes as well as some swatches here.
