NAIL ART: Cozy & Smoky Blue Graphic Botanical Nails

by - November 15, 2021

Winter finally hit here in Winnipeg over the winter - which probably sounds crazy to a lot of people not used to this particular climate, but trust me... The years that the first snow of the year isn't in October are fewer than one might hope. But over the course of 4 days, we've basically gone from a nice, warm, comfy fall into full on winter, so it's officially time for cozy. (I mean, I've been fully into my cozy since the beginning of September, but now it's justified. Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that it leads into the design of this mani - this smoky blue base with tonal stamping and some graphic hygge vibes. I dunno... feels cozy and wintery to me!

I started with a base of Cadillacquer's Mystical Fog*, which is a NailStuff.ca Exclusive shade that I really, really love. It's this beautiful speckled smoky blue crelly with a couple of different sizes of matte navy blue glitters along with a dusting of shifting metallic glitters that walks a really interesting line between being really unique and interesting while also feeling really subtle and soft. It does dry down a little bit textured from those glitters, so I would recommend following with a glitter smoothing top coat to get the smoothest finish. Anyway... Love it - highly recommend.

For this mani, I applied two coats of Mystical Fog and let them dry down before following with a glitter smoothing top coat to give a nice even base.

For this mani, I decided to use the MoYou London Fall In Love 08 Stamping Plate, which is brand spankin to me and my first MoYou plate - and I love it. I decided I wanted to use two different stamping polishes that very much live in the same family, so I went with Maniology's Winter's Kiss and Clear Jelly Stamper's Midnight Rendevous. I decided to do a sort of random splattering of images over the nails - by which I mean, I wanted to get a feeling of randomness while also being really specific about a combination of graphic images along with botanical images and, of course, a little "hygge" addition. One thing I love about plates like this, ones that have a bunch of smaller images, is that you can really just sort of go for it and create a 100% unique design just by playing with placement and image pairings.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a layer of water based top coat and then followed with a quick dry glossy top coat and voila!
