NAIL ART: Wavy Speckled Abstract Stamping Nails
It has really been no secret that I've been struggling with motivation and inspiration lately, but as soon as I saw the stamping plate that I used for today's mani I absolutely couldn't wait to get it on my nails. It arrived last week and I finally got to sit down and use it over the weekend. I have to say... I feel like this might have been just the mani to pull me out of my slump and now I'm brimming with ideas of things I want to try - so February should be a fun nail art month.

Dam Nail Polish's Opal** is a polish I've had my eye on for absolute ages and NailStuff.ca very, very kindly sent me over a bottle recently and I just know that it's going to end up being one I reach for a lot as a base for nail art. A part of Dam's Gemstone collection and inspired by October's birthstone - Opal, obviously - this polish ends up being a really, really gorgeous silvery white holo with some really stunning scattered flakes in it. The formula is gorgeous, more full and jelly-like than a lot of holo polishes, and for this mani I only needed two coats for the opacity I was looking for.
As I said, this polish was gifted to me by NailStuff.ca and she does still have it in stock, so if you're interested I would highly definitely recommend grabbing it. I am an affiliate with NailStuff, so if you've never shopped there before you can feel free to use code TRYSH for 10% off your first order!
I don't know what it is about this image from the Whats Up Nails B069 Texture Therapy Stamping Plate, but as soon as I saw it in photos I wanted it on my nails. I feel like this is actually a really interesting image that could be more versatile than it appears. For this mani, though, I wanted to keep it really simple with some marbled stamping. For my stamping polishes, I decided to go with a smoky blue and a really rich aubergine because I felt like they would pair well without getting muddy. I applied a few dots of each colour sort of randomly over the image and then blended it with a couple of really, really light pressure swipes of my scraper before actually scraping for the pick up. As is my tendency, I alternated the direction that I applied the image to get some more interest to the overall mani.
Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a layer of nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat and voila!

I swear, there's just something about this stamping image that I'm sort of in love with and I want to keep playing around with it and try out some different things. This plate is fairly new, I believe it was released last month, and it has some really great images that I suspect I'm really going to have fun with, so keep an eye out!
