NAIL ART: Baby It's Cold Outside Snowy Winter Nails

by - February 23, 2022

While I know that there are a lot of places that are well on their way towards spring at this point, here on the Canadian prairies it feels like we're living in the winter that will never end. It's a lovely combination platter of bitter "extreme cold weather warning" type of frigid along with record breaking snow fall that is... basically making leaving one's house a wee bit treacherous and, to be quite frank, I'm 'bout done, my friends. Anyway, it seemed like a good excuse to do some good old fashioned leaning in and put together some distinctly wintery nail art for the end (please, please let this be over soon...) of winter.

Keep reading for more!

My new favorite white polish of life is Jen & Berries' Snowfall in Sunnydale, so you can definitely expect it to keep popping up here on the blog in nail art designs. It's just perfect. This polish is a white crelly base packed with white and holo flakes that really, really does evoke the look of freshly fallen snow - which is one of the prettiest things in the world, in my opinion. I still haven't grabbed a backup of this one yet, but I know that I absolutely have to because this is just a stunner, in my opinion. Highly, highly recommend.

For this mani, I applied two coats of Snowfall In Sunnydale to all of my nails as my base.

Going into this mani, all I really knew was that I wanted to use the "Baby It's Cold Outside" image from the Uberchic Mini Cozy At Home Stamping Plate, but I knew I had to give a little bit more interest than that so I also grabbed for the Whats Up Nails B035 Icy Wonderland stamping plate as well. I started by applying full cover images to all of my nails in white stamping polish. For my two middle fingers, I applied a scattered snowflake image, and for the rest of my nails a nordic star sort of sweater image. Next, I wanted to add some smoky blue stamping to each nail. For my ring finger, I used the text image that inspired this whole mani, and for the rest of my nails I applied various snowflakes just to add some overall contrast and interest.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then followed with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

I have to say, I'm really, really hoping that this is the end of winter, both as far as nail art is concerned as well as just... life. I'd really, really like a little spring to happen around here, but with how weather has been this past year I've learned no chickens are to be counted until it's time. Know what I mean? Still, I do actually kind of love that I got the chance to do this mani before winter is over because I kind of love it!
