NAIL ART: Fresh Turquoise Layered Feathers Nails

by - June 17, 2022

I have to say that after how much I fell in love with last week's Whats Up Nails Water Decals inspired nail design, it was pretty much a given that I was going to find inspiration in another one of their decal designs. Much like the first mani, I definitely took the inspiration for this one and then really made it my own with a different color scheme and ultimately a pretty different overall design, but the bones of the mani definitely came from the decal design.

I was very, very tempted to stick with the sort of cool ashy purple of the inspiration, but ultimately I decided that I wanted to go a little bit more summery and bright (especially after sort of existing in a bit of a sadder place with my last two manis) so I settled on a turquoise color story. I actually started by choosing this sort of teal stamping polish and working from there, since I needed my base to be a lighter version of that to get the look I wanted. I ended up grabbing Different Dimension's All Of The Stars, which is this gorgeous turquoise crelly base packed with aurora shimmers, iridescent flakes, and holo microflakies. So stunning!

To start, I applied two coats of All Of The Stars to all of my nails as my base.

I ended up needing two stamping plates for this mani and that sort of dictated the overall design. I stared by grabbing for the Maniology BM-XL209 Lucy's Stash plate, which has a gorgeous full cover feather image that just felt perfect for this mani. I applied the image using the teal stamping polish to all of my nails, alternating the direction of the placement to add more interest. Next, I grabbed the KADS Nature 049 plate, which has a bunch of beautiful feather images on it, but I ended up only using three. I liked the idea of the wispier images, so I used two plain feathers - one on my pinkie and pointer, the other on my middle and thumb. For my ring finger, I decided to use an image with a little bit more details, which is of a feather transforming into a flock of birds. I did all of the second layer stamping in white stamping polish.

Once I was happy with the design, I went in with a nail art top coat to seal in the design and then followed with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat and voila!

I actually really, really love the water decals that this mani is based off of and would love to actually try them, but I think this mani is a solid alternative. If you're interested in trying out any of the water decals, I would say now is the time as there are a lot of them listed in the Semi-Annual sale for a super affordable price so head over and check it out!
