CHRISTMAS NAIL ART: Crisp Red & White Nordic Star Christmas Nails

by - December 01, 2022

Annnnd it is time - Marathon of Holiday/Christmas themed nails o'clock. I've resisted posting anything even wintery before this point this year, but it's December 1 and now it's on so here we go! When I'm sitting down to plan out a whole bunch of nail art designs featuring one theme, there are always going to be ones that sort of get stuck in my head and those tend to be the ones that are the first to get done. Today's mani was so stuck in my head that I had dreams about doing it on multiple occasions and I knew exactly what I was going to do and what products I was going to use to do it long before I actually sat down and put it on my nails. Honestly, it's sort of a really simple design, but I think it has a great amount of impact and is perfect for the season!

There really wasn't any question for me that this design had to be done really simply and crisply using a classic holiday red with a really bright white. I mean, I did briefly consider alternating red and green for this one, but in the end it just felt right to keep it simple. So, of course, I had to bust out my favorite holiday red of all time. OPI's A Kiss On The Chic was featured in their Hello Kitty Collection from Holiday 2019 - I legitimately can't believe that it's been that long since this collection was released, wow! - and I would go so far as to say that this is the perfect holiday red. It's bright and really neutral in tone and I think it's the sort of red that would be flattering on just about any skin tone. As I said, this polish was from 2019, but there are still retailers that have it available online, so if you're looking for a fantastic holiday red créme I definitely think it's worth a try. (This is one of the only polishes in my collection that I have a backup of - I love it that much. And I'm not even a red polish person.)

To start, I applied two coats of A Kiss On The Chic to all of my nails as my base and let that dry down.

Because I had a very, very specific idea in mind for this mani, I did end up pulling images from three different stamping plates to put it together. That actually isn't something I do very often, but in this case I knew exactly what I wanted and this was the way to get it done. For my first and pinkie fingers, I used this single row of nordic stars image from the Uberchic It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas Stamping Plate. For my middle finger and thumb, I used my all time favorite full cover nordic star sweater stamping image from the Whats Up Nails B022 Winter Time Stamping Plate. And for my ring finger, I used this really sort of modern looking text from the Uberchic It's A Season Of Joy stamping plate and added in a single nordic star from the It's Beginning... plate at the top just to bring everything together.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then followed with a matte top coat to bring down the shine to finish. And voila!

Honestly, as someone who tends to be inclined to throw more and more and more at my nails and (likely) make things more complicated than they need to be, I really do love this simple stamping design. And, of course, I made up for the simplicity by using three different plates to do it. Either way, though, I love how this came together and I think it's a really sort of classic design.
